TOYA'S RANT: RING THE ALARM HAS SO MANY THEORIES

First off, I'm hearing that the song is about Rihanna but it could also be about Blu Cantrell and Free and all the other chicks that her fella Jay-Z has recently been affiliated with. Remember the rumours about Free's so-called pregnancy and that Jay-Z was supposedly the father? Or some weeks back when reports claimed that Beyonce stomped off at a Games match simply because Rihanna called him on his cell? He was reported to have been giving Rihanna all his undivided attention for a very long time and Beyonce got upset. What about the Blu Cantrell incident three years ago when Blu started chatting to Jay-Z at a New York night spot. Beyonce went on so bad that it looked like she was ready to fight. Jay-Z had to pack her off home in a cab. Since that incident, Blu has been taking shots at Beyonce ever since. Jay-Z allegedly fucked Mya as well but that was before he hooked up with Beyonce so I don't think Mya is in the running. I noticed that whenever another female upsets Beyonce she angrily yells about the situation in a song like Survivor, which was clearly an ode to Letoya Luckett and Latavia Roberson. She sings "Sold 9 million without you". What other way could this sentence be interpreted? And then there's the song Fancy, about a chick who is jealous of her, wanting to be her, wanting to get with every man that likes Beyonce. And at the end of the song she says she's not saying any names. This was obviously an attack at Farrah Franklin or Letoya. Media Take-out reckons that Ring The Alarm is about Rihanna. But I'm saying, Rihanna isn't the only chick that got on Beyonce's nerve surrounding her fella.

Secondly, I didn't pay attention to the lyrics from the jump because through all that yelling, the words sounded distorted and as the song would viciously attack my ears it didn't give me the chance to absorb the message of the song. In the lyrics, she says "I'll be damned if I see another chick on your arm" meaning the relationship is rocky but despite things not going great, another chick can't have him. Then she says: "To know you give it to her like you gave it to me". This means, she loves the hell out of his cock but she can't live with the fact that if she were to let him go, the other woman would get laid real good just the same way as she did. But the main part that makes the song into a chicken-head anthem more than anything are these lines right here: "She gon be rockin' chinchilla coats, if I let you go. She gone rock them VVS stones, if I let you go. In the 'Bach or the Rolls if I let you go". OK, so you're worrying about a chinchilla coat and all the luxury this chick will come by if you were to finish with your man, so all the materialistic shit is what makes this man worth hanging onto? Come again? So basically, she goes from wanting a man to pay her "bills" to being an "independent woman" to demoting herself to being a dependent cluck-cluck chicken-head all over again. *lol* Ring The Alarm video will be very interesting indeed. Well, at least with the Bills anthem she could say she was 19 years old back then and was still a teenager but the girl is no teenager no more. She is now a 25 year old woman. She can't be singing these type of songs at that age. What ever happened to growth and maturity and maturely developing your music with age? I'm a bit younger than Beyonce and even I was expecting something more stellar. You move on from all that bubble-gum way of thinking.

Speaking of bubble gum, does anyone remember those nasty ass Jawbreakers and Gobstoppers? I use to dote on them when I was little. They had different colours and flavours. The blue gobstopper was wild blueberry, the green was peppermint and the red was hot-burning strawberry. I'd break my teeth trying to bite into the rock hard candy that protected the gum in the inside, and my tongue and teeth would be stained red as if somebody punched me in my mouth. You had to chew the hard candy in order for the gobstopper to soften so that you could get to the gum. But here's the torturous part ... when you suck at the hard candy, your mouth feels like someone made you drink petrol and then lit the match, hahaha! My face would become twisted and contorted with pain. I would find my little self bending my head over a cold running tap trying to cool my mouth off. I remember when I tricked my mom into having one. I was like "Mom, these are lovely, try one". The woman nearly passed out. It was fucking hilarious. The good thing is, after the pepper dies, you get to the gum and the flavour becomes ravishingly sweet, the way a pleasant gum should taste - like ice-cream. I'd thought I'd seen the last of those demon gobstoppers until I saw my little sister with some the other day. Hahaha. Aaaagh, the childhood memories! After a while I got use to them and learnt to toughen up so when my mouth became peppered I just flowed with it until the pepper went away. It's such a crying shame the same can't be said for Beyonce. Despite the sourness that we've been subjected to over the past couple of weeks (that appalling Deja Vu video, the disastrous album cover and weak 2nd single), when do we get to the sweet-tasting candy? Instead, as Beyonce gets older, it seems she becomes more backward. But with an album that took 2 weeks to make, could we have expected anything better?

for a self proclaimed "private person", beyonce really has a way of making her private life not so private. she always comments about wanting to keep her personal life to herself but then she goes and writes songs which imply plenty of details regarding her not-so-private life. i love beyonce but she really is a hypocrite and now that "ring the alarm" is creating a buzz she will probably be up to her old tricks with the no comment and this and that. doesn't she think people will want to clarify what she's singing about. *sigh*

Beyonce has always been singing nonsense songs so I don't understand the big shock! She tries sooooooo hard to be sexy which is not sexy at all. Imagine you saw a girl dance in the cub how Beyonce dances and poses in her videos. You would laugh your ass off.

To me the song is about all the things that she bought for her man and if she let's him go then the next girl will get all the things that she bought for her man. I would feel the same way if that happened 2 me. So to me the song is tight as far as i'm concerned. I just can't wait to see the video! It has to be hot cuz the song is a clubbanger

I don't really know too much about how things are for Beyonce, but if what you say is true, she's just really insecure and she's trying to let out all of her frustration through her music and it just so happens that it making her look really stupid lol.

I, personally, like the song Ring the Alarm NOW. I didn't like it the first time I heard it, but after hearing it a couple of times, it grew on me. Kinda like "Ain't No Other Man" by Christina Aguilera. I think, if given some more listens, it could be a good song to most people. But..sadly, thats not a good thing. If you must listen to a song that many times for people to like it, its obvious that it will NOT be a hit. Sucks for Beyonce since a lot of people were really anticipating her album. She should have taken her time.

I got a completely different take form the song. I thought the song was about a woman who had groomed her man to be what she wanted and even thought she did not want hom anymore, she did not want to see him with a nother woman. Because the thought of this woman having all the shit that use to have (including her man) is driving her crazy. That happend to a lot of woman (Who don't happen to be chicken heads). But of course peope will look for the drama insteads of really looking at what she's saying. Last time I checked artists expressed their emotion through their songs. What's wrong with that? I'd rather her write a song than beat a bitches ass and go to jail. You feel me?

Anonymous said...

I have to agree with anonymous...I totally took the song as she groomed her man to be who he is and now some other chick is reaping the benefits of HER hard work. I'm not saying you're a hater, Toya, cause I respect your opinion, but people are going to tear the song apart because they WANT to hate on her. Most hated chick in the industry? I'm starting to feel that way...

Beyonce's a smart girl (sometimes). IF the true meaning of the song has nothing to do with Jay-Z and his slew of ladies, then that's immediately going to get lost because of the widely known relationship between Rihanna and Jay-Z.

She's said in interviews that she wrote the entire album in the mind of Deena, her character in the film "Dreamgirls" - so it could be just that. But as I said before, people are gonna hear the song and immediately think "Awwww, it's about Hove and Rihanna" which is what is already happening.

Either she released it for publicity to stir interest in the song and her album, or she was genuinely naive to the fact people would associate the song with Jay and Rihanna.

It wouldn't been so bad if the song was good, but it's just shouting with a beat that goes nowhere and one of the most awful bridge arrangements I've heard.

It's interesting though that people jump on this song due to the lyrical content, but not "Is she the reason" which had a similar story to tell.

*Hmmm...*

Beyonce can some better than this musically. It seems these songs are her guilty pleasures. Sometimes she pens songs which show maturity ("Cater 2 U", "Through with love") and then she pens these silly songs ("Soldier", "Ring the alarm")

She should've taken Daddy's advice and taken a vacation. She works constantly and there's never a period when there's nothing from her. Even between records there's this b-side track surfacing and this track from a movie OST and this unreleased track floating around. It's on-going. If she's not careful, people are going to get sick of her (which is what is beginning to happen now). She needs to just take time out and then re-emerge with a fresh, decent sound.

This is Kelly's chance to really shine and make a star out of herself. If she takes control and gets Darkchild, Bryan Michael Cox and Kanye on the celly and gives Hype Williams a call to hook her up a video and also sack the hell outta Mathew Knowles - there may be a chance for her. *lol*

Beyonce's has a clear excess of talent. But she's shooting herself in the foot right now. It's funny how critics put down "Destiny fulfilled" citing it down to Beyonce holding the best material for herself, when the 2 songs she's dropped so far don't even compare to "Lose my breath" and "Soldier".

Thanks for the insight. I guess I misinterpreted the song because I thought she was talking about Jay-Z, not just some random bloke.

Toya, you are right. This song is nothing but some chicken-head mess. Beyonce really needs to grow up.

Honestly, how you gonna think that some woman is gonna benefit from the stuff YOU tought him? If he's still such a dog and you wanna leave his ass, OBVIOUSLY you didn't teach him much of anything. Oh, you taught him how to buy you coats and cars and expensive houses and other materialistic shit, but I guess Beyonce forgot the teach him the real, substancial things that really make a relationship work.

And seriously, a MATURE woman who decides to leave a man because he's a dog, packs her shit and leaves, or tells him to pack his shit and get the hell out. It's over, period, and if the man learned ANYTHING from the relationship and uses it on another women, more power to him (it was a situation they both grew from). Ways like this are the mature way to go about break-ups.

Only an immature chicken-head, high school chick breaks up with a man because he did her wrong, and then goes around stalking his ass being bitter about every woman he's with after her, harping on all the VVS stones she won't get anymore.

Beyonce, you're supposed to be Miss Independent 25 year old. Act like it.

The whole album was written when Beyoncéc was feeling like Deena. She was so into her character she wrote songs as the character, not as Beyoncé. So this song has nothing to do with Jay Z or her personal life. First get the info straight before you go all judging.
Here's the article that clearly states the album is not about her feelings, but of the character Deena. http://www.teenmusic.com/d.asp?r=128647&c=1020

So, what you're saying is that we will be recieving two Dreamgirls soundtracks. An official Dreamgirls soundtrack and an unofficial Dreamgirls soundtrack with Beyonce posing under the essense and believed mind-set of Deena? This is absolutely bogus. The fact of the matter is...the album is starting to receive negative buzz and this whole Deena persona is damage control. first t hing is first...Beyonce isn't a great enough actress to take on the persona of someone completely unlike herself. I find her acting in all of her movies to be dreadfully unbelievable..and now i'm supposed to believe..that when she SECRETLY recorded this album in two weeks...she did it under the 'character' of Deena? LOL This chick must have an AWESOME PR team behind her..because they know exactly what to feed the public..to have her fanatic fans believe anything she says.

She said she recorded 22 songs, but not all of them were complete. I bet the incomplete tracks were hot too!

"B'rubbish" sounds like it's gonna be whack. Wid her "I finished it in 2 weeks" album. She's braggin' about it like it's suttin to be proud of. I remember she said DC's "Survivor" was recorded in around a month and it showed. That album was a musical wreck. She took all control, didn't let Kelly or Michelle write a damn song other than the ontro and she mashed up that album. Writing songs about apple pies amd happy faces. BOWL-SHEEE-YIT! Sometimes she can write a brilliant song, other times it's like "What is this crap!?"

Anonymous said...

lol...no..she has a way of MAKING silly people discuss the hell out of her. Come on people....every song has to be about YOUR experiences? Maybe Kelly felt like that? Michelle? Have you people seen waiting to exhale? She's just thinking about what it would be like if the man she supoorted all these yrs dumped her to give it all to the next chick. That is a NORMAL feeling! lol....I guess no one has ever been heartbroken and no one has ever felt jealous seeing the next girl with your ex. YOu see him taking her to the YOUR fav restaurant. Nothing is "chickenhead" about that. She's being real....and that's a good thing...frankly Iim tired of the bubblegum songs about love...get mad heffa!

ALSO

DEJA VU IS STILL IN THE top TEN and it hasn't even been releases to retail stores yet so don't sleep!

Anonymous said...

What the hell do some of ya'll mean she don't want the girl getting whats her besides the man? If you paid for all of that shit take it with your ass. What I bought don't belong too you and I would be just as happy too take it out of your closet when I leave.

Anonymous said...

And too the person who said this album is Deena and not Beyonce...well we asked for an album from Beyonce not that bitch Deena. Excuse my french.

Anonymous said...

So now you're saying that every artist should write songs about themselves and their own lives? Then A LOT of artists have to rewrite their albums, because a lot of artists write songs about other people or imaginable situations. I don't see the problem. Deja Vu is doing great over here (Belgium) and in the rest of Europe, I guess in USA too... Ring The Alarm will do just fine too and I bet the album will be platinum real soon after release. Beyoncé is too big to flop.

I think some of yall are getting the concept of the song messed up B said it herslf that the song is about a girl who is in a struggling relationship and she doesnt want to be with him but dont want anybody else to have him because she taught him half the things he knows and she says its not even about the material things she dont want him to have just the mental things and the fact that they grew together

To Lovin

you don't get it. If you're married to a man you can't just take what you want...it's the principle of the matter....If I helped my husband get rich and he dumped me and is now spoiling the next girl...basically he USED me...I would be mad as hell. It happens.

WELL SHE SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT "CHINCHILLA COAST" AND "VVS STONE" THEN!!! SHE NEVER KNEW HOW TO EXPRESS HERSELF THATS WHY PEOPLE DIDNT GET THAT. IF MOST PEOPLETHINK ITS A CHICKEN HEAD SONG THEN SHE DIDN'T EXPRESS HER FEELINGS PROPERLY. SIMPLE AS THAT.
