In the exclusive audio below, R&B singer Monica addresses Miss Jones comments about her latest single Everytime Tha Beat Drops not displaying Monica's talent to full capacity and I actually agree. I have been a Monica fan ever since I was in 2nd grade at high school. That would be when Don't Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days) was working up a storm and she had the world at her feet. Anyway, Monica tells Frankski and Wanda exactly how she feels. Miss Jones can be a nasty piece of work at times, and on many occasions I have found myself disagreeing with her. You've already read about the incident where she hung up on Christina Milian some weeks ago and you've also read about her dispute with Tina Knowles. I thought the Tina Knowles incident was actually hilarious but she was wrong to cut off Christina Milian. In a rare case, I am actually agreeing with Miss Jones this time. Everytime Tha Beat Drop does not show Monica's best potential artistically. I like the song but it doesn't compliment her as a respected artist. She does not need to release these type of songs because she's mad talented and I think that is what Miss Jones was trying to say. OK, she has a way of saying things in an offensive way even if she didn't intend any harm. Maybe she needs to exercise the way she words stuff because, well, she does come across as hateful, but in this case I didn't see any hate. [download audio]
So it's been reported that Syleena Johnson has parted ways with Jive as was the case with R&B singer Nivea or is it that Jive Records is having an R&B clear-out because they do not know how to market R&B acts? Even Pharrell Williams boycotted the label by refusing to work on Justin Timberlake's latest new album FutureSex/LoveSounds. OK, I remember some years ago when the extremely talented Imajin were on that label and as an R&B group, member Talib Kareem (my crush back then) stated that Jive refused to promote them and that they wanted the label to be strictly pop or they only wanted to put money into their pop acts and not their R&B acts. Imajin also had a production company where they could've demanded a bigger budget if they actually did well, so as shady as Jive was, they didn't support the group. Imajin's fantastic debut album didn't make much of an impact and the group disbanded for those reasons. Six years later, Jive are still messing up their R&B acts and not just mediocre acts but acts who are actually talented. I say screw Jive! Syleena's latest album CHAPTER 3: The Flesh was a good album and as she's currently shopping for a new record deal, I don't think she'd have much problems finding one. Good luck to her.

After 14 years of marriage, Whitney Houston's divorce was all over the UK news today so I thought I'd bring the subject to light on my blog. This week, the BIG news is Whitney Houston mania has hit town. First, with Clive Davis making a headline-worthy appearance with Whitney Houston (who was seen for the first time on Tuesday after Bobby Brown's sister infamously sold her out to a British tabloid about her drug addiction). With J Records boss Clive Davis in tow, Whitney attended the 15th annual Ella Awards. Then this week Clive Davis made the dreams of many Whitney fans come true by announcing that she WILL be making a music comeback. Then there's the Karrine "Superhead" Steffans controversy about their "sordid little affair" and even though she claims they're just friends, we all know the highly unfaithful Bobby already ran a train track on that ass alongside MANY of her sexual conquests who she claims just to be friends with *ahem*. Besides, if they are together, then as it goes, trash deserves trash.
This could be the VERY reason why Whitney is FINALLY divorcing Bobby's ass. Had she filed for divorce 10 years ago, she'd have been back to classic and healthy Whitney in no time. She'd not have hit rock bottom and she'd still have had a strong music career ahead of her. I really miss "I Will Always Love You" Whitney. Well in these circumstances "I no longer love you". I've always stated that Bobby Brown was Whitney's downfall and I firmly stick by those words. Even Whitney's arch-rival Mariah Carey hit rock bottom when she had her nervous breakdown and alleged suicide attempt after Luis Miguel called time out on their relationship (I know I shouldn't but I am still laughing at her deranged TRL appearance during her Glitter era when she came out with her ice lolly cart, it was pretty obvious that the break-down was kicking in). Now Mariah has enjoyed phenomenal success with her latest album The Emancipation of Mimi which she released last year. She is touring and she's now enjoying a strong and healthy relationship with current boyfriend Mark Sudack. Anyway, if Mariah can pull through so can Whitney. I wish her all the best and I sincerely look forwards to her comeback. Divorcing cheating crackhead Bobby isn't just a step in the right direction but it is the best source of rehabilitation she'll ever have and she will pull through it. Whitney, you're in my prayers.

I am really happy that a date has been set for that paedophile in the name of R.Kelly, or should that be R.Pissy? I hope they lock him up and throw away the key. Kelly faces charges of child pornography after he stupidly recorded himself having sex with the under-aged girl. Abusing your wealth and fame to lure minors into your bed is beyond diabolical. I have a younger sister who is around the same age as the little girls that he likes to urinate on and have sex with and God help me as to what would happen to a grown man should he even attempt to look at my little sister the wrong way. Yes, her chest may be huge (she's more developed in that department than I am *weep* ) and she might be shaped like a "woman" but that's no excuse to take advantage.

What is this tramp Paris doing all up on Kanye like that? Does she not realise that the man is engaged to girlfriend Alexis? Not content with having sex with every millionaire man possible, I guess she seeks out a new challenge.

Whilst Jessica Simpson can be seen choking back tears as she hits the chat shows spilling out her heart regarding her marriage failures to Nick Lachey, OK! magazine is going to press printing glossy covers about Nick's supposed wedding plans to Vanessa Minilli. I guess he really is moving on and good for him. No point dwelling over a woman who failed to see what she was losing out on. Meanwhile, Vanessa makes the front cover of Maxim.
Last night, Christina Milian and Avril Lavign attended the re-opening of the Diesel store in New York.
Janet makes an impact on France as she graces the cover of their music magazine Couleur Metiss, as well as performs on a french show.

If you listen to a few interviews Monica has done, she says she respects that people have a right to an opinion. But the reason she got pissed off with Miss Jones is because she was making loads of comments about her weight, as well as the song. I think that's fair enough, even though I agree that "Everytime The Beat Drops" is nothing like Monica's best.
Whitney shoulda divorced Bobby Brown's black snaggled-gap tooth ass a LOOK time ago. But still, better late than never! I hope she pulls through, because Whitney has a great voice and I can't WAIT to hear what today's hottest producers cook up for her. I have no doubt that Clive Davis is gonna hook her up with the hottest producers and help deliver a killer album.
As for Miss Jones - she needs to master the art of tact. But I guess she's made a living off of dissing media peoples on the air up to this point, so it's like a gimmick now. It's what people expect. The best thing that stars can do is to not pay her no mind! But...I listened to her clip speaking about Monica and I also agreed with her. "Everytime the beat drops" is not a bad song, but it's an anybody song and is just so-so. As an album cut = fine. As a lead off single = not good. Monica should have and CAN come stronger than this.
As for Nick Lachey - should he be getting married so quick to re-bound girl? The girl is FINE, but shouldn't he leave it a while!?!
THAT'S RIGHT, WHITNEY, THATS RIGHT!
KICK BOBBY'S TRIFLIN' ASS TO THE MUTHAFUCKIN CURB!

ABOUT MONICA
You have to understand that Monica is a southern chick, and that type of music is VERY popular in the south. Although it's not heavy on vocals, it is paying homage to her roots and her city so I totally understand her singing the song. Just because you're not singing it like a Christina or Mariah, or a Beyonce' doesn't mean you're "dumbing down your vocals." And who is Miss Jones to give advice on someone's music when she failed so miserably on hers?
Firstly, I agree that Monica is not showing her true skills and colors, I miss the Angel of Mine, Dont take it personal Monica, even So Gone, but I don't think she should fall into the club banger trap. Not all singers can do this, Monica is good at doing her style what was originally her claim to fame. Mariah Carey experienced this when she released LoverBoy on Rainbow, it just wasn't her style. Then Emancipation of MiMi and Charmbracelet displayed her realization that she is going back the basics. Miss Jones is a bitch, I really don't like this woman, its one thing to be opinionated then just rude. She has no credentials to diss anyone's music career or craft. Say what you think but do diss someone completely and embarrass them is trashy and shows lack of maturity and class.
Whitney is resposible for her own actions 'bobbay' has nothing to do with her demise, she started doing drugs LONG before marrying him, go read Aretha's autobiography she talked about it.
" I feeel U dog, we got to ROLL OUT!!!!" Hahahaha...Dat's mah gurl!!! "What Imma be bringing we can't take no air plane...we got to riiide, we gon go to jail after we finish.." Lmao! And Monica grew up around that type of sound and she's from the south!!! She can be different if she want to!!! That's her roots...and now she didn't just put three ppl I love 4rm ATL in the same sentence like that.....HELL NAW...Miss Jones pushin it now......
I heard that Whitney got Bobby on drugs. Whitney use to hang out with Darryl Strawberry and Eddie Murphy. Who supposedly did crack cocaine as well. Boddy probably left her. He was probably sick and tired of her crack habit. I'm happy too see her back!
I think it was wrong of you to bring up the Mariah suicide attempt that the media made-up. It's also inconcievable to compare Mariah, who went through some stressors that could break anyone [a failed relationship, the death of a parent, forced radio & tv promotion, being on a new label for 80 mil & might I add that Dave Chapelle cracked @ the mere thought of a possible 50 mil payout...& whatever other problems that may have been occuring in her life] to a willing drug addict. Two completely different scenarios.
About the Monica thing...that girl knows that she is doing the opposite of what is needed to get respect these days. People have seen a lot of artists take creative control and make it a point to grow musically recently, and she has done neither. I'm not impressed with her as of late, no matter how beautiful her voice OR face.
Now onto the main thing (for me, anyways): Whitney. I grew up with Whitney and Mariah because I grew up with my mom and my sister. My sister eventually grew out of them, but my mom still loves them both, and I have gone on to become a die-hard MC fan. I just love and respect what she does. As for Whitney, I never lost my love for her. But ever since she put Bobby and CRACK before music....and herself....she hasn't been the same. Not only is she a complete laughing stock to everyone, but she's just a little dead inside from all the drugs and heartache. I don't know, I guess what I'm saying is she's going to have a hard time coming back. I'll still cop her shit, as I always do. Her voice is unbelievable. But the fact of the matter is that Whitney has never written her own material anyways, so she's relying on producers to save her career because her voice is so worn down. Is it still immaculate? Yes, but the way her voice has changed cannot even be compared to how Mariah's has. Mariah's may be raspy sometimes and strained, but she has grown to really feel what she is singing. She has grown to be a really expressive singer, and Whitney's has lost all emotion to me. "Just Whitney" was so emotion-less I could have thrown up, and so was at least a third of "My Love is Your Love". That said, the rest of MLIYL was amazing.
Whitney Houston IS a true talent. I just wonder if she still has it in her to command everyone's attention.....for anything BUT the wrong reasons. I hope for her sake AND mine that she does. She needs to use what she has gone through with Bobby and drugs and just...life and put it into her music, because she hasn't remembered what singing means to her and does for her in a long time.
We miss you Whitney, and we'll be waiting.
Peace.Love.Music.

P.S. miss april joy, you said 'Loverboy' by Mariah was off of the "Rainbow" LP, but it's actually of the OST to "Glitter". However, what you were saying may HAVE applied to the "Rainbow" album because that was her most hip-hop (not necessarily urban, but HIP-HOP) album. The problem is, it came off a little trite in places because she forgot how to balance her vocals with her songs. Oh well, I still loved the beats, lyrics, AND vocals, AND she brought back the heat by "Glitter" (I don't care what NOBODY says!)...though she treaded safe on "Charmbracelet".
Ooh and wow, so we're really gonna get to see what's going down with R. Kizzel now, huh? Ahh, it's just as well. He HAS made some good music, but overall his talent has been overshadowed by ego, ego EGO. Oh yeah, and now piss.
Heh...sorry, had to.
