DOWNLOAD 20 Y.O ALBUM SAMPLER

20 Y.O Album sampler Mixtape [download: clips]

It's not clips of the whole album, just a handful of tracks but there are some exclusives. It's a mixtape hosted by Jermaine Dupri but all the tracks played are on the new album 20 Y.O. In chronological order these are the songs: Call On Me, So Excited, Enjoy, Show Me and With You. I'm really feeling Show Me. Also, With You is a slow jam but this track is siiiick. I think I'm going to really like this album. I can't wait to hear the whole album. Her video for So Excited premieres next week. 14th Sept ya'll!

"Show me" is BANGING! It's so annoying when artists release weak singles when they have stronger singles tucked away on their albums that could do so much better for them. "Show me" shoulda been single #1! It woulda been a big song if she dropped it earlier in the Summer. I love the beat and the chorus is serious! *lol* I could imagine her throwing DOWN some hot choreography in a really simple style video: "Pleasure principle" style. I am SO on this song it's not funny. This is the kinda dance 'n sexy that "SexyBack" shoulda been. Janet done showed JT how to do it on this track! *lol*

I like "With you" as well. I'm gettin' an old school Janet AND funnily enough Michael vibe. THIS shoulda been single #2. I love any Janet song where I can ACTUALLY hear what she's singing.

I was always gonna buy this album, even if it was 14 tracks and 7 odd interludes of shit. But I'm more excited now at the prospect of hearing these in full.

Overall, I'm liking this album so far. I just hope she keeps it old skool and don't drop those songs where she graphically talks about f**king, 'cos those songs get on my nerves and they're anything but sexy.

I've listened to the uptempo tracks over and over again, trying to make myself like them, and I just dont. They're just not Janet, and I'm tired of her doing the sex theme. It's so over done. Jermaine in my opinion is NOT a great or legendary producer, and should not have his tracks on the same cd as jam and lewis without their co-production. He's just not that good, and I was really expecting him to do things he hasn't done before. Although i think justin timberlake is a copycat and opportunist, his cd is bangin, as is Nelly Furtado. Timbaland is who Janet should have hooked up with for her cd. I'm going to buy the cd and i know i'll like it, but not love it.

As far as I know, every Jermaine Dupri track is co-produced with Jam and Lewis. I agree, she needs to hook up with new producers, but I think she needs to loosen the ties slightly with Jam and Lewis. I personally feel this is the only way she'll grow as an artist. If she keeps working with them for EVERY track and EVERY album - her style will get even more stale.

As for JD and Jam and Lewis - I think their teaming up works well on certain tracks such as "With you" because you get that hot Jermaine Dupri sound with a rich Jam and Lewis melody (something which JD isn't too brilliant at). I mean just listen to it towards the end! You got JD coming with the chords and the drums and then Jam and Lewis bringing in the rich guitars and the strings. It works well!

Her and Timbaland would've been cool given how Timbaland is working the electro-pop sound right now. His beats would also force her to actually sing properly rather than mumble inaudibly (i.e "Call on me") as you wouldn't be able to hear her properly over Timbo's syncopated beats. *lol* I personally would love for her to work with Rich Harrison and Rodney Jerkins as I think these are 2 producers who have a style which suits Janet to a tee.

I just want the album so I can have "Show me" in full. I have that on constant rewind! *lol* I wanna jump up and pop and lock everytime the chorus drops. *LOL*

No way should Janet leave Jimmy and Terry. Why? Because they are still producing great music for her.Don't listen to the press and don't hate on Janet just cause you are only 17 or 18 years old and don'y know much about her.Go pick up that Damita Jo album and tell me Janet should leave them? I was floored at just how awesome that album was.It was as if it was Janet's first album. The quality and production of the songs are just amazing. Some of y'all need to do your homework and check out Jimmy and Terry so you'll know what you are dealing with. They are real songwriters, musicians and producers. They are not just BEAT MAKERS.Show me a producer out today who you think will still be here 30 years from today.Plus for those who say Janet should work with other producers, she always does on every album. Those producers just never get the same attention as Jimmy and Terry.Kanye produced several of the best tracks on the Damita Jo album. After listening to all the tracks that have been released it seems 20 Y.O is a solid album.Unfortubately, Janet is still paying for the Super Bowl incident and her absense from pop (white) radio stations, MTV and VH1 is proof of that.

I agree J. Janet needs to not just loosen her ties, but step away completely for at least a minute, and do something completely new. You're right about Jerkins and Harrison. I think the Neptunes would go good with her also. Yes Anonimous Jam and Lewis are true songwriters, but their sound, like J suggested, has gone a little stale. I dont think they have done anything innovative since "Rhythm Nation". After Rhythm Nation they started sampling and recycling. I was so disappointed in them when they started the whole sampling thing, like on the songs velvet rope, you, all for you, you want this, new agenda, the list goes on. I feel they are to talented to have to resort to doing that. If they felt they needed to freshen up their sound then collaborate with another producer, like Babyface does. I think the collaboration they did with Rockwilder on all for you was some of there best work and they didn't have to sample ( you aint right and trust a try). I saw an article once that said when artist become succesful they loose that fire in their eyes, the hunger to acheive. I think thats what has happened to Janet, Jam and Lewis. As i see it 20 Y.O., in celebtation of Janets 20 years of control, should have taken on what control did, which was put janet in a whole new class. Control was innovative. No one had heard this sound before. I can still vividly remember what I was doing when i first heard what have you done for me lately. thats how much of an impact that sound had. It was fresh, new, and bangin. With 20 Y.O. I hear nothing fresh and nothing new. We've heard it all before. So Excited sounds very similar to JD's song gotta get cha for example. I've tried but i just can't be one of those fans that excuses mediocrity. This isn't Cassie, Rhianna, Ciara, etc.... This is "JANET JACKSON". the pioneer the innovator the "ICON". Unlike those girls, she has access to just about anything in the buisness she wants; producers, songwriters, video directors, sylist, etc..... So therfore instead of blending in with the crowd, she should be way ahead of them. I'd like for people to do like i do when i hear new music from artist like Janet. If you were stuck on an island and could only have 1 or 2 janet cds to listen to whould this be one of them? In 10 years are you gonna look back and say "THAT WAS THE JAM"?
