I am surprised Columbia records hasn't dropped her already. And if they don't drop her now, that is what it's going to lead to eventually. She is going the Mya route. In fact she already is. Her album release date is now at TBD status. I thought that Amerie had some nice songs on her new CD but they are not marketing her properly. And since her album has a lot of 80's pop, catering it to the urban fanbase prior to previous albums was not the greatest of ideas. In the US, her debut All I Have (which was an R&B classic in my opinion) sold 700,000 copies. "Because I Love It" peaked at No. 17 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart and at No. 56 on Billboard's Euro Albums Chart. The set's first single, "Take Control," topped out at No. 10 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart. On the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, it hit No. 66 in December 2006. Her last U.S. album, 2005's "Touch," debuted and peaked at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 400,000 in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan.
So what REALLY lies in store for Amerie's latest album? All I know is that it's not looking good at all.
