WHO SANG IT BETTER?

21-year-old Leona Lewis is such a wonderful singer and is definitely our answer to being the British Mariah Carey. With a black father and white mother, she has every similarity to Ms Carey as well as the fact that they share the same rifts and vocal tones. Her vibrato is definitely up there with the Christina Aguilera's and Kelly Clarkson's of the world. My only problem with her is that she lacks soul.

Leona's exotic look is a winning combination to a marketable image, which is probably why Simon Cowell thinks the world of her - not only is she cute but she looks a lot like his current and past girlfriends! On Saturday, she sang Abba's Chiquitita because it was Abba theme (ugh!) but the week before that, she sang Summertime which is also what coerced Fantasia to win American Idol back in 2004. I also feel that Leona's performance of Summertime has also sealed Leona's fate as the potential winner of The X-Factor.

Simon Cowell praised the hell out of this girl as he did with Fantasia telling her that: "Across this show, across Idol, across all the other shows. Let's be honest: all the girl singers haven't been very good....until now! You [Leona] are absolutely the BEST contestant I have ever had across any of these shows. And that was an amazing performance". What? Better than Jennifer Hudson and Latoya London? I think not. Leona is a great vocalist but not the best. The one thing she has over Fantasia is LOOKS but Fantasia has the originality and as a credible artist that's more important than anything.

Think Michael Jackson. If you hear a song you instantly know its him and nobody else and that's Fantasia. Leona on the other hand, without the visual, you think Mariah Carey. The question is though, out of Leona and Fantasia, who did the song more justice? You decide.
