WEEKEND R&B RUN-DOWN

The lovely Mya did a concert for Hot 107.9 Atlanta Ladies Night Out, and again she looked stunning. I don't know what her secret is or whatever it is she does to keep herself looking good but she really needs to stick with it, and I'm glad she's putting herself out there so that she doesn't get forgotten about. Tamia performed her new single Can't Get Enough as well as plugged her beautiful album Between Friends at XM Radio. Tamia will be releasing her album on an Independent label which is something I'm all for if you feel that you're not going to get support and promotion from a big brand mainstream label like *cough* Virgin records. Apparently, JD has quit his job as president of Virgin Record's urban music division because he blamed his colleagues for badly marketing the CD of his girlfriend, Janet Jackson. Now aint that a bitch? Still, you got to admire this man's love for his woman, for someone who will quit their respectable position, you know that's love right? Black love at its finest. He may not be easy on the eye, he may need to fix his teeth even, but fuck looks, a man like that is most definetely a dime a dozen.

I think Blu Cantrell is a very pretty lady but nowadays she looks so artificial and wasted especially when she attended the Rock & Republic Spring 2007 Preview Party. OK. It's cheaper NOT to have a stylist or make-up artist but as a high profile celebrity, wouldn't you like to look good? Wouldn't you prefer people to say: "Hey that Blu chick is one fierce bitch?". Hell, I may not have her bank balance but I can bet my bottom dollar that I KILL this bitch in dress and make-up. She is always showing up at events looking mad crazy and undone. Let's not forget earlier this year when she arrived at some event with crusty feet looking in need of some cocoa butter. Get it together Blu, lose the blue contacts, hit the studio and put out another bangin' album. Your talent speaks for itself but until then, you will just be seen as some ragga muffin looking broad, who went nekkid for Black Tail and unleashed her unshaven twat for the world to see not to mention you were once Jay-Z's ass on the side. Get it together.

Nelly Furtado attended MTV Video Music Awards Latin America 2006, looking like a porcelain china doll. I love the dress but not the hair. Her bangs are way too heavy for her face. Looks like a mushroom is resting on her head. She needs to tone down the bangs. Well, I think she looks better without them. It's not like she has a fivehead like Rihanna and Tyra Banks who NEEDS them to downsize their huge foreheads. But apart from that, she looks great! Work it.

Well, Alesha Dixon from British R&B group Mis-teeq is finally coming out with her solo album Fired Up which is expected to drop 6th November. Above is her album cover and tracklisting. I hate her because she is married to the drop dead gorgeous Harvey from So Solid and she is beautiful. However, looks can only get you so far in this business otherwise explain how Christina Milian's music never sells. Her first single Lipstick was a major flop. I didn't like the song. I don't think she should've went the pop/rock route. However, she redeemed herself with the reggae-flavoured Knockdown. Many US visitors may not know who she is. Alesha and her band members were trying to break the US with their single Scandalous which made the Catwoman soundtrack. They even performed the track on Ryan Seacrest's show. Alesha also tried to raise their profile over there by appearing in a NERD video with Pharrell Williams called "She Wants to Move". She is the chick dancing all hard on the podium. However, their opportunity to crack America fell on deaf ears when their label Telstar went bust all because of that posh bitch Victoria Beckham. They spent so much money on her album and promotion only for her to flop. Nobody wanted to hear her I guess because she was the least interesting member of The Spice Girls and she couldn't sing for shit. Anyway, here is the US video for Misteeq's One Night Stand:
