Beyoncé’s mother is not happy with journalist Roger Friedman. She took to Instagram to write a congratulatory post to Beyoncé for working extremely hard on her album 'Renaissance' achieving its current success.
At the end of the post, she hashtags Friedman who wrote a negative article about how 'Renaissance' is a "whole album made up of samples and covers aka interpolations." He emphasises how the critically acclaimed project only sold half of what 'Lemonade' sold in 2016. Friedman is a well established music critic. It is his job to have a public opinion whether good or bad. Tina sounds like a very entitled celebrity mother who thinks everyone should "bow down" to Beyoncé just because she works hard (examples 1 and 2). A lot of artists (including the ones she has sampled) work hard and can only dream of acquiring 1/4th of the success that Beyoncé’s had. She should be grateful for what her daughter has been able to achieve. It is totally fine to be your daughter's cheerleader but also knowing where to tow the line between being a proud mom and acting like a complete stan.

Um that man is barely a journalist lol. Black folks sampled as a response to a racist industry and a lack of resources. Crediting artists who thrived despite that through collaboration in a homage album isn’t lazy or something worthy of detraction—it is however lazy and less than thorough to write the review he has or to make the comment Dianne Warren did.
I might have used that term a little loosely lol, but you told no lies.
