Beyoncé has surprise released a Queens Remix of ‘Break My Soul’ with "Queen Mother" Madonna. The remix serves as a mashup with the beat to Madonna's very own 'Vogue.' Madonna’s original song and video for 'Vogue' was a watershed moment for ballroom culture in the mainstream.
In the new remix, Beyoncé calls out several legendary ballroom houses, including House of Revlon, House of LaBeija, House of Amazon, House of Balmain, House of Miyake-Mugler and House of Balenciaga. The original song 'Vogue' caught flack for DECADES for only prominently naming white stars.
However, Beyoncé used the opportunity to replace all the women Madonna named in the original rap with iconic, musical black ones!
...
These included Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, Aaliyah and her sister Solange Knowles as well as her Destiny's Child band mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
Other names dropped included her Parkwood Entertainment signees Chlöe x Halle, Lauryn Hill, Roberta Flack, Erykah Badu, Kelis, Sade, Missy, Diana Ross, Grace Jones, Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker, Rosetta Tharpe, Santigold, Bessie Smith, Nina Simone and Betty Davis!
There are some people that are going to be a bit pressed she didn't call out her blueprint Tina Turner, or even Mary J. Blige, but she couldn't call out everyone. She is serving this remix full of gay emergency all while recharging black women at the same time!
