TODAY'S R&B MUSIC REVIEW ...

Work Out - Keyshia Cole [DOWNLOAD]
This song is mad lame. The song has been posted on various forums for the past week now and it's not really representative of the fierce yet infectious Keyshia Cole music that her debut album offered. Though I heard the track days ago, I didn't say anything because there was dispute that the track was NOT sung by Keyshia Cole AT ALL, and now that you think about it, the voice doesn't sound like it either. It is STILL unclear as to whether this is Keyshia Cole singing on the track but IF it is in fact her, she's going to have to come out with something better than this. Sorry Darkchild, NOT your best work. You can do so much better. Keyshia's sophomore album Tears of A Soldier (very creative album title, love it) is expected to drop in the spring/summer but as there is uncertainty regarding this track, alongside Alicia Keys, Mya, Amerie, Mariah Carey, Brandy and a couple of others, Keyshia's album STILL remains to be one of my most anticipated albums this year.

Jump Off - Sterling Simms feat Sean Paul from YoungBloodz [DOWNLOAD]
I think this track is really hot, a futuristic number for the dancefloor. I've posted a couple of his songs already and this boy is going to be so big. Usher and Chris Brown has some competition this year. He is a great singer, he is gorgeous and his music is hot. He made his first public debut on Jay-Z's Kingdom Come album on the track Dig-A-Hole. You'll be hearing a whole lot more from Sterling.

My Daddy - Olivia [DOWNLOAD]
50 Cent has been going around saying that Olivia will hit the spot this year but somehow I don't think so. Not when she continues to put out generic fluff like this. Actually, it was concocted together by Britney's new squeeze Jonathan "J.R." Rotem or should that be former squeeze? Boo-hoo! The song is just soooo average to me. I miss the Bizounce Olivia when her music use to be mad hot back in the day. Her debut album was fiyah! But not much can be said about this and if she continues to hit a bad note, you can more or less say it's over.

Poppin (Great Scott Remix) - Chris Brown feat O'So Krispie [DOWNLOAD]
The only thing I know about this O'So Krispie chick is that she appeared on some reality show with existing TLC members Chilli and T-Boz. Poppin is going to be the final single from Chris's debut album but I like the original a whole lot better. The original is MUCH hotter compared to this lame remix. Nevertheless this will hold until over the summer when Chris releases his new album which is rumoured to be called Graduation.

Another artist to look out for is Sunshine Anderson. R&B diva Sunshine Anderson is back and will release her new album, Sunshine At Midnight, on 1/23 via Mathew Knowles' Music World Music.

Sunshine At Midnight was just named one of "The First 10 Important Albums of 2007" by XXL Magazine's Hip Hop Soul, and the album is the follow-up to Sunshine's 2001 debut which sold over 750,000 units! In addition, her single, "Something I Wanna Give You," recently took the #1 spot on Billboard magazine’s "Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles" chart.

I think 2007 is going to be a huge step-up for new talent AND existing talent especially talent that doesn't get much recognition and Sunshine Anderson is one of those artists, though I'm a bit wary of the Matthew Knowles association because what other successful artist has Matthew had since Destiny's Child and Beyonce? Once I hear the new music, I will definetely post my thoughts.
