MONDAY'S R&B CRUMBS

After coming to a decision, I've decided to resume back a little earlier than scheduled because I love blogging so much and I deeply missed it. For the past couple of days I have been sooo lost, and I think I can juggle the busy life with the blog-o-sphere so DO tell everyone that Toya is back in town. Let's proceed shall we?
.
BEYONCE was looking all sparkly when she attended the UK premiere of Dreamgirls last night in Leicester Square. The girl that we love to hate and hate to love wore a shimmering sequinned dress by designer Elie Saab. Temperatures in London were plunging towards zero, but the 25-year-old braved the cold in her strapless gown:

"I'm not wearing it for long and it's worth the pain," she said. You will care when you catch a cold and have to lay in bed all day drinking tea. I had to call in sick today because I have the flu, block nose, sore throat, migrane, the full works and it's not nice. If you click on the first set of pictures, you can clearly see the visible deodorant underneath her armpits. OK, so she wants the whole world to know that her pits don't stink. Ever heard of invisible deodorant Beyonce?

Beyonce also performed "Listen" on German TV show Wetten:

You can watch the performance [HERE] but it was NOT a great performance. I guess now that she knows she won't be winning any awards for her hard efforts, she just decided not to give a shit anymore. Beyonce also signed some autographs along the way:

Love the coat! Last week, Beyonce also arrived at another Dreamgirls premiere for the gazillionth time, and she looked beautiful and classy:

Now why couldn't Beyonce wear this classy get-up at the Golden Globes? I mean, I was actually digging her dress but it was worn for the wrong ceremony. Hell, it's not like she was attending the purely ghettofied BET Awards. You are talking about the Golden Globes damn it.

My girl Mariah Carey was seen out and about in New York last week:

Mariah was just being Mariah I guess.

Another favourite singer of mine who was also spotted was Alicia Keys who was seen leaving the Roosevelt Hotel in California:

She looked nice. Mighty nice. Ms Keys looked mad hot when she arrived at her premiere last week for Smokin' Aces. She arrived with her fella Kerry Brothers - the man whom she made wait a whole year for sex. The Smokin Aces premiere was also in full swing which not only saw Alicia arrive with her boyfriend Kerry but her mama came along too as did the rest of the Smokin' Aces cast:

Ben Affleck and rapper Kanye West poses with Alicia. I wonder if Kanye will be working with Alicia again on her new album. You Don't Know My Name was such a fantastic track and their working chemistry was just awesome. You know my girl is going to come with the hotness when she releases that album midway 2007. Anyway, I've been meaning to see this movie since it opened here earlier this month. It's been getting raving reviews and also, it's been getting a lot of comparisons to Pulp Fiction.

Cassie arrived at the 2007 NRJ Music Awards rocking some new blonde tresses and looked mad hot:

This colour looks really good on her, though it was only a matter of time. But Cassie is cool in my book. Christina Aguilera, Fergie, Gwen Stefani and Nelly Furtado all made their presence felt:

Hot chicks doing it for life. Sean Paul was also at the awards:

Sean stays doing his thang, not to mention that he can actually get it.

Monica did a bootlegged photoshoot recently. Her Lil Rock is such a cutie but when kids go astray these days and end up in prison, then look at these pictures and ask yourself why:

I would never allow my kids to be dressed up as thugs. What message are we sending out to our kids? Source: Sandra Rose.

It's a shame that you are one of those consistent R&B artists who can never seem to get the front covers that actually make a difference or allow your audience to sit up and take notice. And when you DO get a bootlegged Vibe Vixen cover, they make you look like the biggest of all clowns:

This is like the Mary J Blige saga all over again. The thing is, Fantasia just doesn't exude sex appeal. Most often, when she does try to come across as sexy, it is often forced and a woman's sexuality should come naturally. The longer hair length is a different change and at times change is good but I think the short-do suits her face much better. Still, I commend her for not getting a nose job and her voluptuous full lips are an objective force that most women go out of their way to have helping to create a thriving collagen-driven industry.

Ciara on the other hand, has taken some great magazine covers over the years but this one leaves little to be desired. King is like, almost equivalent to Playboy right? But not quite. It is a sexually-protruding magazine targeted at the typical red-bloodied male reader. A magazine that shows an appreciation towards some of the most sexiest and gorgeous black women in the entertainment industry. So why is Ciara Harris nearly fully clothed in this shoot? Methinks King will have the lowest of sales for January's edition alone, and some would say Ciara is not sexy (dating back to the rumours that she was actually born a man):

Men will just use this to scrape up the trails of dog poo that their pet Rex and Snoop Dogg left behind on their kitchen floor, or instead of a hot darting session of ejaculation, it will just be a case of urination - all over her face. Source: Straightouttanyc.blogspot.com

More Ciara grinding escalates as she also graces the latest edition of Trace magazine:

Okay, so these ones are kind of cute, in a girly cutesy kind of way. A bit boring though, but whatever. Source: Sincerely Ciara

R&B CATCH UP: Last week’s events …

Rihanna looked nice and tanned as she continued her break in her Native Barbados:

She seems to love showing off that well toned and gorgeous body of hers and quite frankly, who can blame her? The chick has pins to die for.

American Idol finalist Paris Bennett has shot the video for her debut single Ordinary Love which I posted 2-3 weeks ago:

One of the guys from teen R&B group B5 plays her love interest. I can't wait to see it. The R&B-rock influenced track is definetely a hot combo. And as we're onto American Idol, the show premiered last week and as expected I was in hoots of laughter just laughing at the tone deaf fools who were making right planks of themselves. It is definitely the type of show to watch if you're aiming to give yourself a good ole abs-workout. Best four hour workout ever. However, when a 7-foot woman auditioned, I thought it was disturbing when Simon said to Paula and Randy: "you just put through a giraffe". So he'd have said "no" simply because the woman could have been a basketball player? The woman could really sing too. And the definition of a talent contest further disintegrates in its true meaning more and more. Sighs. Anyway, more controversy hits yet more reality TV:

Everybody has had an opinion on the massive Celebrity Big Brother debate in Britain about the race rows regarding Jade Goody's ill-treatment of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. People have accused Jade of being racist and whilst her comments may have had some kind of racial undertones, I do not feel Jade is racist. And this is coming from someone who cannot stand Jade. The past week has seen Jade publicly mock Shilpa's culture, Native India, her accent, her name and hygiene. Jade is mad common (like myself). She is loud, foulmouthed, intellectually-lacking and comes from a low-class background. She wouldn't know what classy is even if it hit her in the face and being around Shilpa she certainly got a huge dose of it. Shilpa on the other hand, is everything that Jade isn't. She is smart, clever, well-spoken beautiful, classy, has morals and integrity and can speak Grade A English. The racism rows have even caused the Indian and British government to join forces and take action. This has also seen Shilpa Shetty fans in India burning effigies of the BB producers. I didn't hear any typical racial slurs come out of Jade's mouth though, but her comments may have been racially antagonised. Sure, she regrets saying every word. She regrets being a vicious bully and maybe she regrets saying it not just for the offence, hurt and anger she has caused throughout but because she has now lost her career as a well-respected lucrative "celebrity".

To me, I just saw a cultural clash. These are two different women who simply did not understand each other because they were brought up differently and came from different backgrounds. I think there has been a positive aspect in all of this in that a cultural and social awareness has been built up. Maybe we are not as much a unity-driven country as we'd like to think and this is cause for something to be addressed. There will always be people who will feel threatened by others due to ones class, culture and upbringing, enabling others to think "Oh, just because she got a top-notch education and went to a £10,000 a year private school" or "just because she can speak proper English and don't speak in common slang, she thinks she's more superior than me". That is the actual vibe I was getting from the highly unsecured Jade. It was like some kind of defence mechanism on Jade's behalf. But a lot of jealousy was a playing factor in all of this. Jade and her cohorts Danielle Lloyd and Jo O'Meara bitched, bullied and plunged the knife into their helpless victim. It was all playground antics. Jade always claims she cannot possibly be racist because she has a black (mulatto) father but the only time we hear of her "blackness" is when the dreaded R-word gets thrown in. Even then it's STILL a mute point because some mixed race people practically shun their black side all because they see it as the inferior race. Jade seems to be more acculturated to her white side. You can still be of ethnic minority showing prejudism towards another ethnic minority and I have seen it. In fact, I live right next to it. With the recent race riot surrounding black and Asian communities in my city a couple months ago which saw this happen due to black businesses not doing well whilst Asian businesses continue to thrive.

This was all to do with lack of government funding resulting in conflict and resentment and so the two communities turned on one another. It was definitely a stark contrast since two decades ago which saw the two communities unite in their stance to protest against the law and regulatory practices due to the unfair treatment of ethnic minorities (institutionalised racism). Jade's eviction on Friday does show that Britain is in fact a non-abiding country when it comes to racism but instead of trying to understand why cultures clash, deeper factors does play a role other than race and these need to be looked into just as much.

Stay tuned!
