Janet Jackson graces the front cover of UK pop cult magazine Sly 'N' Chic and is looking mad fabulous. Janet has been quiet on the music front ever since the storm regarding poor sales of her latest album 20 Years Old and her boyfriend Jermaine Dupri quitting his high-ranked position over at Virgin over the handling of Janet's album. I'm not a regular reader of Sly 'N' Chic but I may take a peep through this when I next hit up those newstands at WH Smith. Anything that contains Janet Jackson definetely makes for good reading.

Hip Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) Chairman Russell Simmons has called for a closed door meeting to discuss the current state of hip hop. National attention has once again turned toward offensive and misogynistic rap lyrics after Don Imus used the word "ho" to describe members of the Rutgers University women's basketball team. Many are calling the recent firing of Imus a double standard, as rappers have used the term for decades without consequence. Anyway, I've been noticing that it's been about that - a decade - that rappers have disrespected WOMEN IN GENERAL calling them "bitches" and "ho's" and all sorts and yet nothing has been done about it and still I don't think much will be done regarding this meeting. However, I'm in total agreeance that everyone should use their power to boycott hip hop, BET, and mainstream radio until the misogyny, violence, & overall ignorance stops, and if you want to make that change, then sign THIS PETITION or alternatively go here.
ALBUM REVIEW
Lumidee's sophomore album "Unexpected" dropped yesterday and leaked on the Net a couple of days ago prior to the release. Here is what I thought of the album. I thought that I would be consumed with hilarity at listening to another Lumidee album. I could go on and on about how poor of a singer she truly is, how monotonous she sounds when trying to sing a ballad and how they had to polish up her lacking singing talent with a vocal digital enhancer just so that her voice is tolerable to the human ears. But the truth is, the album is packed with slamming club bangers painted over with her new-found rapping "talent". I am quite surprised at myself for partially liking some of the album. It's car-groovy for the summer, it's fun, edgy, upbeat and overall an album not to be taken seriously. With reggae, R&B and Hip Hop beats fused into one and a collaboration-packed album full of high profile talent, I would say Lumidee certainly deserves credit for trying!TMZ has managed to obtain a video of Rihanna DENYING her alleged relationship with R&B singer Omarion which you can watch here.
This week Rihanna was spotted on a dinner date with Omarion and TMZ caught them leaving Mastro's steakhouse in Beverly Hills just minutes apart. Despite the fact they left separately, sources tell TMZ they saw the pair entering the hotel where Rihanna is staying - together! Apparently, it was reported that Rih-Rih was in the area to record tracks for her upcoming album. If they are dating, she's silly to deny it since she's been caught red-handed on a number of occassions. They need to stop tripping' because the truth always comes out in the end.
