This week is going to be a very interesting week as two R&B startlets will be premiering their video's this week. Mya will be premiering her Lock U Down vid on Wednesday/Thursday and Rihanna will also be premiering her Umbrella video THIS Thursday. Her official site will premiere the vid at 10pm on that day. And the vid will also be available for download for all US visitors. Both video's will have dance sequences and we will also see both singers at their sexy best. Which video are ya'll anticipating the most? For me it would have to be Mya because it's been a while since Mya came out with a dance video. We want to see her dance her fanny off. And her last album Moodring dropped all the way in 2003 (loved that album by the way but it still doesn't top Fear of Flying). Rihanna on the other hand, I look forwards to her video but she doesn't give us a chance to miss her. I mean, her last video was only a couple of months ago and the real test in an artists strength and longevity is whether they can go away for long periods of time and still come back strong. It's as if her record label don't have much faith in her which is why they feel the need to rush out albums each year - they feel her starpower is barracaded at a limit and will eventually fade out. Artists like Alicia Keys don't need to put out albums each year because they know they are talented, they have confidence in their selling power, they put out good music and finish off with a bang which leaves folks like me wanting more so when they reappear 3-4 years later, the anticipation is still there.
And as we're on Mya, she performed at the Platinum Nightclub in Birmingham earlier this month:
I am also reading reports that the label aren't doing a very good job with her promotion which is partially one of the reasons why she has taken so long to come out. Last week, she also did a four-song set at the Essence/Dodge Avenger Lifestyle Lounge party at New York's Roseland Ballroom. However, I am glad everything is coming together and I look forwards to the new video this week. So long as they don't push back the album again for the billionth time, then I'm cool. Liberation is set to drop 26th June 2007 - same day as Kelly Rowland.
Anyway, here's a very rare sighting of Solange Knowles with her 2-year-old son Daniel:
He look like some Spanish kid in need of some tan lotion. You know Matthew Knowles must be jumping for joy at successfully eradicating his negroid genes and that they were not passed on to the next generation. And it's no secret that Matthew was unhappy at Beyonce dating Jay-Z during the early stages (
Over the past couple of months, Blu Cantrell has shown us the sad and delusional trainwreck she has truly become especially this time when she attended an event in honour of Swarovski presenting Crystal Canine. Barracaded in morgue make-up and a straw-like matted wig, the self-destruction of a truly talented and aspiring vocalist continues:
I wonder what death and dog smells like at the same time because Blu truly looks like death warmed over. Can't nobody tell me this woman has issues. Lawdy lawdy lawdy.
John Legend performed a concert at Madison Square Garden this week:
Don't get on me but I think Legend is overrated. Not saying he isn't talented. Just overrated. Anyway, special guest Corinne Bailey Rae also performed at the same show.
Fashion icon Jennifer Lopez was spotted shopping at London's Top Shop and bought along her hubby Marc Anthony for the shopping spree:

I absolutely love Top Shop. A good 70% of my clothes are purchased from that store. Their clothes are uberly fab!
Former American Idol contestant Paris Bennett is finalising her album and snippets such as My Boyfriend's Back and Can't Control Myself can now be heard [thanks Fabizzle]. They are samples taken from her upcoming debut album Princess P due out 8th May 2007 on TVT. Psst! I was rooting for this girl. Really. Then it appeared she took a dose of haterade when she got on Sanjaya's case a couple of weeks ago talking ish about bringing down American Idol by voting for the magical-haired one. Anyway, I hear that the vote was rigged last week and that it was Lakisha who got the lowest number of votes, with Blake coming in second and Sanjaya third (not hard to believe considering that San San formulated a strong fanbase which consisted of hormonal teenage school girls). But can you imagine the uproar if Lakisha went home instead? The producers HAD to do SOMETHING. Mmmm hmmm.... I spied that Nigel Lythgoe in that audience. But the show has been accused of vote rigging from the beginning of time which is why I refuse to waste my money participating in these phone-ins. They are NOT legit!!! The spare change could be used to put into the charity box at MacDonalds. Think about that before picking up your phones people. LOL. I still think Sanjaya is jumping the gun by not going back to school. Yeah, scale the iron whilst it's still hot but NEVER dump on school, because fame may be at your door NOW but how long will it be there for? And milking his new-found fame is exactly what he did when he attended the Capitol File Magazine and Charmer Sunbelt Host White House Correspondents' Association Dinner a couple of days ago:
Nice work if you can get it I s'pose.
