FRIDAY'S SCRUMMY R&B VIBES ....

Cassie is working with Kanye West and Pharrell Williams on her sophomore album, so no, she's not dropped because Diddy has just confirmed it OFFICIALLY. It makes sense that Cassie will play the leading lady in Kanye's high-budgeted video "Stronger". They have obviously bonded in their newfound friendship and are working closely with each other on one another's projects. Here is a picture of Cassie in Kanye's upcoming new video:

So I guess you Cassie haters can put away the champagne as Diddy has told MTV that Cassie is STILL with Bad Boy and has NOT been dropped. As I've been reporting previously, Cassie is working extremely hard on that sophomore album which is expected to to be released in October: "Cassie's definitely not dropped from Bad Boy," Diddy announced. "She's in the studio [working on her next album]. So many people are excited to be working with her. She was just in the studio with Kanye West. She's going to be doing some stuff with Pharrell [Williams]. People really understand that she does have some talent and it takes some time to mold it. Everybody's not perfect. I think she had some rough shows, just being nervous. Sometimes people have to break out of that." I got nothing against Cassie but if you truly believe an artist is talented you would not feel the need to keep justifying it. I mean, it's as if he knows she isn't cut out to be a singer/performer but yet he feels its his loyalty to stand by his acts. Even though she can't sing or perform, her music is hot. And I just know she's going to come with another CD full of hot bangers. Cassie will also be a spokesmodel for the Sean John women's collection which Diddy claims will be out in four months.

Rihanna attended an event in which Entertainment Weekly celebrated their issue for the EW 100: The Ultimate Must List, which took place at Gotham Hall in New York City:

Rihanna has a feature in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on stands Friday. The gorgeous Bajan singer says her new album, "Good Girl Gone Bad," is an expression of where she's at. "It's like, this is me. This is what I'm doing," she tells the mag. "I don't care if you like it or not. That's a bad girl's attitude."

She also performed at the event:

Doing her thang as usual.

And before she put in an appearance at the event, she was spotted in a restaurant having lunch in Manhattan with pals and playing around with the paps:

Rihanna's single "Umbrella" is on course to stay on top of the UK chart for the 6th week running. Not even Beyonce's Crazy In Love managed six weeks. If that's not girl power I don't know what is.

In a rare sighting,
Mariah Carey was spotted in New York with her boyfriend Mark Sudack of over 4 years:

This is the man Mariah has kept extremely tight-lipped about over the years and we FINALLY get a picture of them. I am looking at my CD of Mariah's latest album The Emancipation of Mimi and if you look at the back of the album, you will see that he is credited as co-executive producer.

Super talented
Chrisette Michele had two album release parties this week. When she was rocking the green dress, it was one that was put together by Better Dayz Entertainment and it was hosted by Power 105's Chuck D at BLVD in NYC. The release party below which was attended by Lyfe Jennings was hosted by Spotlight Grooves. Check out the action:

And ewwww, Olivia attended that one too. Look at that nasty looking hair. She is soooo fried!

Well, it seems Beyonce and Jay-Z aren't the only couple to show off public displays of affection for one another.
Justin Timberlake was also showing new girl Jessica Biel some good loving during their stint in Europe:

I am actually liking them as a couple.

NEW MUSIC

Head on over to That Grape Juice to hear a brand new solo track from Danity Kane's Dawn called Flawless. No, they are not splitting up. The group are currently in the studio recording their sophomore on Bad Boy.

Now I wanted to have a discussion about Chris Brown's Billboard cover. I posted this yesterday, but I didn't take much notice of it and I'm only realising that it says THE KING OF POP (remember when Rollingstone pulled this shit with Justin Timberlake when he dropped Justified? And infuriated Usher in the process? Then Usher shut him down by releasing Confessions and selling over a million copies in the first week).

Cos folks are looking at this and are like "hell naw!". Seriously, I don't know why people take these magazines seriously. It is obvious they do this to generate some type of hype machine just to get people talking about the artist. Justin, Usher AND Chris have all admitted that they are heavily influenced by Michael Jackson when it comes to performance and in their musical career it has showed. Has anyone watched Michael's 1992 Dangerous concert? Watch that concert and then go and watch Usher's 8701: The Evolution concert and Usher straight JACKED everything from that concert. Justin's debut album Justified heavily channelled MJ including his vocal style and most of the songs on Justified were rejected cuts that didn't make MJ's Invincible album. Chris Brown recieved a phone call from MJ on his 18th birthday recently and tributed MJ at last years World Music Awards in London by performing Thriller. Chris also jacked MJ's Smooth Criminal for his video Gimme That. Can ya'll see where I'm going with this? EACH artist has mimicked MJ in some point of their careers. Common sense is enough to tell anyone that neither of them touch MJ in his heyday.

So is Chris well and truly this generation's answer to Michael Jackson? Discuss. The winner of the Toya's World banner contest will be announced later today.

Stay tuned.
