And then the last and third column shows R&B singers John Legend, Mariah Carey and Mashonda with her R&B producer hubby Swizz Beatz who also attended the glitzy event. Notice how ALL of the female R&B acts who are dropping an album later this year showed their faces (Cassie, Mariah, Ashanti, etc). Other A-listers that attended included Ashlee Simpson and her boyfriend Pete Wentz, Pharrell Williams, P.Diddy, Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri. This definitely looked like the hottest ticket in town.
Here is Rihanna's 106 & Park performance:
As we all know she's vocally challenged and not really a singer by any means but the BET crowd was definitely feeling her and it was most definitely a stark contrast from Cassie's earlier BET performance when she performed Me & U with Yung Joc last year. Thanks Cassie, because whenever I'm pissed, all I need to do is watch this performance and I just smile. Rihanna's new album Good Girl Gone Bad may not reach no1 on Billboard next week, but she STILL has a lot to be happy about because next week, according to the midweek charts, Rihanna's album will get to no 1 in the UK as well as Umbrella still hanging on to the top spot for a FOURTH week. So next week she'll have a CHART DOUBLE. The last female artist who did this in the UK is SURPRISE SURPRISE .... Beyonce Knowles! Back in 2003, Beyonce's album Dangerously In Love and single Crazy In Love got to number one AT THE SAME TIME and Crazy In Love stayed at the top for FOUR WEEKS, and yup, it was a leading single that featured Jay-Z! What a coincidence....
Stay tuned!
