WEDNESDAY'S JUICY R&B SCOOP ...

I was jamming to Rihanna's new album Good Girl Gone Bad today and realised how much I enjoyed her album. I didn't like Breakin' Dishes at first but I totally dig that track now. I am so mad at myself for liking her album. I didn't expect her to blow up the way she did. I think this is going to be her breakthrough album and we're going to be seeing her HELL of a lot this summer. Jay-Z is going all out for her because he knows no other artist he signs will match Rihanna's success. How does one beat creating UK chart history? - Rihanna being the first ever female recording artist to get to no 1 on downloads alone. Her mama will be so proud as she will now be in the Guinness Book of Records!

Well, check out Mya on the latest cover of Vibe Vixen:

Gangsta Boyfriends and hot sex is not something I particularly look forwards to reading as she has already been there and done that. I'm sure she could have found some deeper shit to talk about in order to help boost the album sales that she can't seem to get nowadays. Ah well, after that album goes downhill, expect Mya to grace Playboy mag at a good newsagent near you.

Well, the 2007 Cannes Film Festival kicked off this week and Kelly Rowland was there looking mad hot:

Chick has definitely come a long way from her Destiny's Child days. She looked fab. I can be quite catty at times but I can't even find a bad word to say here. And at least she decided not to drown those poor legs of hers in cow grease this time. Kelly would also like to track down her abusive father whom she last saw 19 years ago when she was just 7. [Read More ...] I guess this cuts the rumour that Matthew Knowles is really Kelly's biological father. It's been a few years since the Internet rumour had circulated about Matthew having an affair with Kelly's biological mother whilst he was married to Tina who was one-month pregnant with Beyonce. LOL! I didn't really believe that rumour but it was just mad funny to me. And Kelly also hints that Destiny's Child may have a reunion [Read More ...] I think Beyonce has gotten way too big to even go down that route but at least it's an option if any of them go broke and if Beyonce won't go there again, I'm sure Farrah who is struggling to get a deal would be more than happy to take her place. Besides, we already have a Spice Girls reunion in the works. The Spices have recorded their first track which is expected to be released in the festive season.

Also, Beyonce Knowles arrived at Nice Airport, France on May 19, 2007, to attend the 60th International Cannes Film Festival:

She looked cute and summery.

Mya did a spot of hosting on 106 & Park this week and her co-host was none other than the greatly annoying Bow Wow:

She was sporting some brand new bangs which I weren't really feeling. She looks prettier with the curly hair in my opinion. But these bangs ... looked weird on her for some reason.

On that very same show, Fantasia performed her new single When I See U:

And judging by those tats all up her leg, Fantasia has proven that she is the embodiment of pure ghettoness. She may love herself a hood boy but nobody is more hood than Fantasia Barrino.

Check out her performance below:

Mad props to my girl Sam from thatgrapejuice.net for uploading this.

Jennifer Hudson loves her gay fans and she most definitely kept her commitment by performing at the Long Beach Pride Festival:

Sporting a green satin dress and stylish glasses, Jen should know it's the ultimate fashion sin to wear the glossy material if you're on the heavy side. That's like Monique trying to fit into a pair of skinny jeans. You just don't go there. Plus, at one time it looked like she was losing the weight but it appears she's piling back on the pounds.

Anyway, you can watch her performances via a mobile phone angle and it sounded like she tore the house down:

I Am Changing^^^

And I'm Not Telling You^^^

One & Only^^^

Dreamgirls Finale^^^

Thanks for submitting these Zed. Totally appreciate it. Jennifer will also be performing at this years BET Awards alongside Beyonce, Rihanna, Kelly Rowland, Ciara, Ne-yo and Robin Thicke.

Janet Jackson was spotted leaving Nobu Berkeley restaurant, London this week with her fella Jermaine Dupri:

Totally love her ensemble but her weave job is a no-go and Janet use to have the best looking weaves back in the day.

And lastly, here's two more pictures of the fabulous Christina Milian at the 2007 Taurus World Stunt Awards:

I dig her style whole-heartedly.

And here are ALL of Rihanna's performances when she performed at Radio 1's Big Weekend 2007 this past weekend, starting with ....

SOS:

Good performance. Another huge hit for Rih-Rih. This is the track that showed Rihanna as a diversified recording artist when she cut back on the R&B and native Caribbean flava to put out something of a more poppy mainstream nature.

Break It Off:

Her live performances have definitely improved and her stage charisma was pretty electric.

Pon De Replay:

Rihanna got to no 2 in the UK with this track and it stayed in that position for weeks. The song is still mad catchy to this day.

Unfaithful:

The crowds were definitely feeling this performance as they sang along and cheered. This was another smash hit that did extremely well. I think the track also got to no 2. I am not certain. I do know it made top 5 at least.

Umbrella:

Rihanna's stage presence may have improved a lot but she is still not that fluent when it comes to a choreographed dance routine.

Shut Up & Drive:

This will be Rihanna's second single after Umbrella. A very typical pop/rock track that maybe somebody like Avril Lavign would have mastered much more smoothly. But this new 80's rocker image is one I am finally getting use to. She can definitely pull it off. Haha. Rihanna has done a Pink on us!

Breakin' Dishes:

This will be Rihanna's third single and I WILL admit that I was not too keen on the song but I'm totally feeling it now. I see they are picking them well in advance but I would love for her to release Don't Stop The Music (which samples Michael Jackson) or Sell Me Candy. Hell, even Good Girl Gone Bad would be eaten up by pop radio. That is such a nice poppy ballad with a great message.

R&B Tidbits:

1. Chris Brown now has a remix of his new single Wall to Wall featuring Michael Brian. Check it out!

And look who's trying to make a comeback after flopping mad hard:

2. R&B stars Tyrese, Tank, & Ginuwine (above) are teaming up to make a new group by the name of TGT. Fans will get a first listen of "TGT" on the remix for Tanks current single, "Please Don't Go," already making its way up the national charts. This groundbreaking remix is expected to storm the airwaves in two weeks and is poised to be a signature summer ballad for the debut of TGT. The group plans to launch their first international tour and music revolution in the fall with "The Shirts Off Tour" first making their way across the country, with stops in NY, LA, DC, Atlanta, Chicago, Miami and other U.S. and international markets. "The Shirts Off Tour" will feature sets of the greatest solo hits of all 3 singers, in addition to exclusive "TGT" songs. [Source]

Well, if you can't successfully make a comeback alone then doing it in the company of three other undersold R&B singers could work wonders. Or maybe not.
