JENNIFER LOPEZ: BRAVE [ALBUM REVIEW]....

I got round to listening to J.Lo’s new album ‘Brave’ and it’s same ole J.Lo. It sounds no different from her previous last albums. Part of it was bland, boring and her vocal delivery has weakened. Another part of it had me thinking that if certain cuts were given to another artist, they'd have the potential to be highly classified. The album is a lot more pop-orientated as opposed to her previous albums which had more of an R&B and Hip Hop edge. The latina singer delivers a less than polished album and it’s mostly infiltrated with commercial pop tunes (Mile In My Shoes, Brave, Hold It Don‘t Drop It amongst others). Even though the album features production from some of R&B’s hottest talent such as producers Ryan ‘Alias’ Tedder, J.R Rotum, Bloodshy and Avant amongst others, the album is pretty lacking.

I could cut my ears off after she murdered the gorgeous ballad Wrong When You’re Gone, which was written (and recorded) by the extremely talented Keri Hilson. In fact, the track was delivered to several R&B singers who have more talent in their finger nails than J.Lo has in her whole body. I am just not understanding why this track was a finalized deal for Lopez when others did it (or could have done it) more justice. The album isn’t all doom and gloom though. It does have a few nice cuts such as Gotta Be There, Stay Together (which has an Amerie/go-go vibe to the song), Never Gonna Give Up, Wrong When You’re Gone, Brave and lead single Do It Well which includes a special remix featuring rapper Ludacris. Brave is set to drop 9th October.
