MONICA HITS BACK AT "THUG" COMMENTS TOWARDS HER SON...

Remember when I posted pictures of Monica's son Lil Rock dressed up in Sean Jean and Rocawear attire? Well I've reposted the pictures below. It seems like my rant got back to her. I posted the following comment:

"R&B singer Monica thinks its cute to have her son Lil Rock morphed from an innocent little boy to a hard thug. Looks like he's on the rampage to hustle and sell some weed. What is the world coming to these days? I would NEVER have my 3-year-old boy dressed up like this. What message is she trying to send out here? Then folks wonder why today's youth end up dead before their time or spend the rest of their lives in prison. Positive enforcement is what we need to be teaching our kids today. NOT THIS".

And then when I read her statement it was 100% cohesive to what I wrote above. I know she was addressing my comments because she took the time out to address EVERYTHING I wrote in her defensive statement. I love Monica as an artist and felt that the clothes just weren't fitting for a 2-year-old. I however do not know what goes on in her home and how she raises her kid. I'm sure she's a good mother to Rodney so if my comments came across as condescending where Monica felt that I and others were questioning her skills as a mother, then it wasn't intended to do so. Continue to read Monica's statement.

MONICA'S STATEMENT

I truly thank [my fans] for their love and support. It's something that motivates me as a mother and as a person. Their love and support has carried me through a 13-year career, one child, and four albums.

And because of those that prefer not to hate, I'll always make music and let them into my personal life. I was made aware of the few people that did not like his choice of attire. But who are we to judge? Truth be told: it should be respected that he's on a major website wearing clothes that were created and made by Black men.

How do we constantly find negative when only positive exists? Is it a problem with the world or people in general? My son is being raised by strong black men, so therefore, when I dress him, I dress him as one. Not as a thug, not as a hoodlum.

How he dresses reflects nothing that I teach him. Morals and values are instilled in our home and in our lives. And for those that choose to speak negative, I simply must say take a look at self and dissect the problems within before you try to look at my life and dissect mine. My son is loved, blessed, favored by God and supported by many.

Thank you very much Sean "Puffy" Combs and the Rocafella family. We love you and will support you at all costs.

SUNDAY'S R&B SCOOPS ....

Courtesy of Oh.Rihanna.com, here is a new exclusive promo picture taken from Rihanna's upcoming album Good Girl Gone Bad. The new album will drop the first week of June. I have to stress that the picture is awesome and she looks mad hot. The short cut bob definetely works in her favour and suits her whole-heartedly. The new image definetely looks more natural and less artificial. And to top it all up, Rih-Rih has scored her highest career debut at Rhythm Radio with the track at position 31."Umbrella" is the #1 most added at the Pop and Rhythm format, with over 110 pop stations on impact and over 50 Rhythm adds. The single has over 40 million in audience and over 5300 spins. Can we say a very strong comeback? Well, to be honest with you I wouldn't really call it a comeback as she hasn't come out of our faces since 2005, dropping an album EVERY YEAR since then. But I'm glad to see a young and promising beautiful black woman doing her thang in this business and achieving results in the process.

And even without make-up, she still looks nice:

People Magazine has named Rihanna as one of the most beautiful people of 2007. I would definetely have to agree.

And more ....

{Gorgeous Prison Break star Wentworth (middle) is one of People's Most Beautiful as is Beyonce and Alicia Keys}.

These are the folks that made the list and the ones that I also agree with: Halle Berry, Alicia Keys, Beyonce Knowles, Tyra Banks, Rashida Jones, Prison Break hottie Wentworth Miller, Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna, Trey Smith and Chris Brown. I still question why Fergie made the list though.

And as we're on the topic of Fergie, here is her cover for teen magazine Seventeen:

Surprisingly, she doesn't look that bad.

Cassie was spotted showing off the new black hair that she was originally born with and looks good with it:

The last public Cassie appearance you saw on here was when Cassie attended some event with her mentor Ryan Leslie and she was looking rather mumsy. Her frumpish look resulted in her "pregnancy" rumour which spreaded from one popular blog to another. Mind you, I didn't spread the rumour. I just stated how she looked rather "mumsy". I guess it was a poor-fitting outfit which made her look the way she did as she's back to looking her slender best. Anyway, I've always stressed that Cassie should go back to the black hair and she's done exactly that. I wonder what she’s been up to lately.

Beyonce performed at the BRAVO Supershow 2007 April 28, 2007 at the ISS Dome in Dusseldorf, Germany:

Bee recieved the "Goldener Otto" media award. Her latest track "Beautiful Liar" (Columbia) was making pan-European strides. It was up 15-4 on the Eurochart after entering at No. 1 in Italy and Switzerland and climbing 12-1 in Ireland. The single also got to no1 in the UK singles chart last week. It's amazing what two beautiful and sexy females shaking those hips can do.

Beyonce will not only be on the cover of Vibe magazine but she is also featured on the Spanish edition of People:

She looked cute and sassy.

Ray J attended his Adult Video Release Party at JET Nightclub at The Mirage Hotel and Casino Resort:

Well OK. Since his music doesn't sell, you can't blame the minx for trying to make a career out of porn especially since he's been thriving in that field lately. According to most females who has seen his sextape with ex Kim Kardy, the guy is generously-sized in the trouser department and I'm sure his missus Whitney Houston won't have much complaints to make either. Courtesy of TMZ, here's the vid of Ray-J and Whit leaving Crustacean restaurant in the Beverly Hills this week.

And it appears that there was no "Xscape" from his missus as TI figured out. They both attended the "Welcome to Miami" party hosted by Sean "Diddy" Combs. This guy has been Tiny-whupped. Do these two not know the meaning of break-up?

Word has it that their engagement is BACK ON. Judging by that shirt, she really does have faith in her man.

Alongside Jennifer Lopez, Ciara also attended the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood party this week:

Ciara arrived in a very unflattering white dress. I honestly do not understand why she goes out of her way to wear dresses that do not accentuate her body shape especially since she is not shaped femininely. She is pretty muscular (check out the arms), plus she needs to buy herself a pair of tits.

Ashanti looked curvylicious when she was spotted on the set of her new action movie "You're Nobody 'Till Somebody Kills You":

LOL. You're nobody 'til people stop caring. And Ashanti has been doing her thang in the acting sector lately. She has just completed horror flick Resident Evil 3, and can add Coach Carter and John Tucker Must Die to her list of acting credits. Then she'll be dropping an album later this year. Ya'll ready for a new Ashanti album?

Stay tuned for more of your latest R&B entertainment.

FAB FRIDAY R&B SCOOP ...

There was no update yesterday as I was out of town and there were a couple of important stuff I had to take care of. But I did miss this blog, and you guys of course. But now that I'm back, here's the latest R&B juice.

This week, Beyonce was spotted arriving in Melbourne, Australia:

She looked totally unfazed at the prospect of her B'Day Deluxe Edition album being pulled off the shelves but her tour is pulling in a profit so any financial loss will come as nothing to Ms Knowles.

Beyonce will also grace the latest issue of Vibe magazine whilst her ex-Destiny's Child bandmate Michelle Williams graces the latest cover of Chicago Tribute:

Can't say I'm feeling either cover.

Jennifer Lopez and her hubby Marc Anthony attended the Us Weekly Presents Us' Hot Hollywood 2007 ceremony:

Wow. J.Lo was working the HELL out of that white outfit. Work it girl!

Yesterday, my girl Alicia Keys attended the 6th Annual Tribeca Film Festival - "We Are Together" Premiere - Afterparty:

Cute!

And Mya was on 106&Park this week to premiere her new video Lock U Down so you can read my views later down the post:

You can watch the vid further down in this post. Anyway, she looked real purty. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT TOP!!!

Ne-yo hit up those TRL studio's this week:

Forgive me for posting, but it had to be done.

Another R&B singer to hit up those TRL studio's was the man known as Nostrils. Well, that's Mario to you guys:

He really needs to "GO!" hurry up with that album...

And um, check this. R&B singer Monica thinks its cute to have her son Lil Rock morphed from an innocent little boy to a hard thug:

Looks like he's on the rampage to hustle and sell some weed. What is the world coming to these days? I would NEVER have my 3-year-old boy dressed up like this. What message is she trying to send out here? Then folks wonder why today's youth end up dead before their time or spend the rest of their lives in prison. Positive enforcement is what we need to be teaching our kids today. NOT THIS.

Anyway here is Deborah Cox's official new album cover for "Destination Moon":

Me no likey. It looks really drag-queenish to me but I do look forwards to new music from Deborah. It's been a hot minute now.

This week we had THREE R&B video's which premiered this week (Rihanna, Mya and Fantasia). So I'm going to review each one starting with Rihanna. It was the World Premiere of Rihanna's new video "Umbrella" and I absolutely loved it. It's the first single and video taken from her upcoming new album Good Girl Gone Bad (out 5th June 2007) The video was mad hot and I'm totally rocking the Dominatrix look. She's 19 now and she did say her image has become sexier. I'm going to say it's the best video of her music career so far and here's why:

The special effects were creatively innovative and there were lots of nice visuals. I liked the water scene where she dancing with the waves. They should have devoted more camera time on that because that concept was VERY creative. Also, I loved the part where she was naked and covered in silver body paint (I wonder if Beyonce would have been able to get away with being butt-ass nekkid in silver body paint. Something tells me "no". Oops!). Some of you may remember when rapper Sole did this for her album shoot way back when. I brought up Beyonce because so many folks have resorted to calling Rihanna the "Beyonce-jacker" and incorporating the ballet into the vid was probably a bad idea considering that it reminded folks of Beyonce's "Green Light" vid. However, I didn't see much Beyonce in this vid. The only thing that parallel's them is that they are two sexually-charged lightskinned weave wearing R&B singers with a connection to Jay-Z end of. The video was dark and moody but in a sexual motive. And of course, I laughed at the choreography at the end. It was really bad and was executed horribly. Chick cannot dance to save her own life and I thought EVERY West Indian chick could dance. She was real stiff and lacked fluidity. It was just all very robotic. Apart from that little mishap, she looked stunning. You gotta hand it to her. The girl is beautiful. My only disappointment with the video is that there was no story behind it. Like, she could have had a totally delicious hunk and they could be hugging and kissing in the rain of some sort. I absolutely loved Ashanti's "Rain On Me" vid because it told the story and the song and video was just brilliant and I'm not even feeling Ashanti like that. But nevertheless the video was still hot. It certainly doesn't look like any of the R&B video's that are out right now. Also as I've been saying for weeks, the song is edgy and mad catchy and I'm totally feeling the direction she's going in.

Now for Mya's "Lock U Down" video. The song is cool first of all. I wasn't too crazy about it in the beginning but so far it has grown on me:

The video was okay. The choreography could have been better and it was too reminiscent of Janet's last one but with less oomph. I have seen better dance video's from Mya such as Case of The Ex and My Ass Is Like Whoa. I wouldn't go as far as to say she killed it (like Ciara did with her comeback dance video "Promise") but she did good for Mya. Rihanna had a better video though but if Mya was given Rihanna's video, she'd have executed it BRILLIANTLY. I can't wait for her new album "Liberation" to drop on the 26th June 2007.

And lastly, here is Fantasia's When I See U video which also premiered this week. This week was definetely a busy week for the premieres:

I liked the scenes in the video and the guy who plays her love interest is a hottie so props to her on that. Not sure about the choice of single though but I do like the song. And she's been getting rave reviews for her role in The Color Purple.

Anyway, gotta go. It's possible that I may come back on-line and do another update since I didn't do one yesterday so check back soon and stay tuned!
