Okay, okay, so after the Rihanna and Beyonce excitement last night, I guess it's back to our regular R&B resume with the latest R&B gossip. And this week, our king of R&B Usher made the exclusive declaration to MTV that it is true about the recent engagement reports! He is actually engaged to on-off girlfriend Tameka Foster, the woman who is TEN years his senior (what is it with Usher and older women?). What happens when he wants to have kids of his own and she decides she doesn't want any more because she has two already from a previous marriage? But also the fact that as a woman her age, her biological clock is starting to get a little rusty and women who choose to have kids at 40+ are putting their babies at risk of certain abnormalities. I'm just saying, because I know Usher's mama isn't taking a liking to Ms Foster right now and when a "pre-nup" starts to find its way into the discussion, it could all end in tears. But if this is for real and he makes her happy then I say go for it because life is just way too short to ponder. On that note, Usher also gave us the lowdown on his latest new album which is yet to be titled but he expects the new project to be released by November via LA Face Records, so I look forwards to his comeback.

Wow. A Brandy appearance since it was reported that she got into a fatal car accident which ended up killing somebody. She looks well, but I'm interested in her comeback and I hope she can put the accident behind her despite the lawsuit.

Finally, we get to hear Rihanna's first single "Umbrella" off her 3rd album Good Girl Gone Bad which was exclusively unveiled last night by Def jam. Here is a mediocre quality download:

This chick has a way of pronoucing words (remember "I don't want to be a murderrreerrrerr"? LMAO). Check out her pronounciation of "Umbrella". The track features Jay-Z as I've been constantly reporting. So what do I think of the track? It's catchy. That's all I can say right now. It is definetely a grower. I think it would be much hotter if it was given to someone who could actually sing well but this will no doubt be another smash hit for her. Since Jay-Z has her back on this track, it will do wonders. Rihanna's new album Good Girl Gone Bad is set to drop 5th June 2007.
Beyonce's very vibrant video "Freekum Dress" leaked yesterday. I am not feeling the song much but the video is pretty. Mad props to my boy Etienne Evolution for uploading this!

The release date for Beyonce's re-released album B'Day is nearing and all the new tracks have leaked. Beyonce provides us with two sweet but really melodious ballads and in my opinion, musically, this was the direction that she should have contemplated from day one. Instead of re-releasing B'Day on the 3rd of April, this should have been the date that the album should have been released. I am quite positive she'd have given us a more quality and listenable album instead of a CD full of filler tracks and little creative input. But I guess, she's trying to put it right this time round with the spontaneous number of new video's and new tracks that sound a lot better than the original album put together. Oh and there's a 1 minute teaser of the Kitty Kat video floating around. Check it out.
Your banners have been pouring in left and right and I am absolutely overwhelmed at the response that my little contest has been receiving as of late. The quality of each banner is on another level and makes my ass look like an amateur when it comes to Photoshop. I don't even know which banner I'm going to use next Monday. Flaws and All - Beyonce This track is a track all females can relate to as in the first line, she croons: "I'm a train wreck in the morning ... I'm a bitch in the afternoon", it's a track that penalises a woman for having complexities and different moods. In light of her being difficult he is there for her despite her flaws and everything else. I love the guitar rifts in this track. I am pretty pleased that she's putting more emphasis on the ballads this time round because this is the kind of Beyonce that is more emotive and emotive Beyonce I like to hear.
Still In Love (Kissing You) - Beyonce This is no doubt Dangerously In Love part two and you would recognise because it's a remake from Romeo and Juliet. Beyonce sings her heart out beautifully and pours out her feelings in the most expressive way. Pretty heart-felt and Bee definetely put her own spin on the record. A very pretty song indeed and vocally depicts Beyonce as one of the most talented in her generation. HOWEVER, Jennifer Hudson and Christina Aguilera has that on lockdown right now.
Welcome to Hollywood - Beyonce Some folks claim they're not really impressed with Beyonce's latest offering for her re-released album especially since this is a track that originally belonged to Jay-Z from his latest album. I thought the song was so-so and I still feel that way. The vocals are slightly different and a bit more has been added to the track. Apart from that, it's okay. ...
R&B Girl - Amerie Amerie tracks are leaking left and right. Here's another one for the Amerie fans. Though she's been on the ride of wackness lately, she sounds so much better when her vocals are controlled as opposed to her singing out of her range or just well, yelling. But um, she needs work on those addlibs. I'm more anxious to hear her new album since she has no longer endorsed Rich Harrison to project some of his genius on her latest upcoming CD and to tell you the truth I am very afraid.
It's Me Snitches - Trey Songz This is yet another track from his upcoming album "Trey Day" (or at least I hope not). This track is pretty annoying and had me wanting to reach out for the ear plugs. I am disappointed considering that his debut album was very good, an album that I thoroughly enjoyed. In this track, he tries his hand at rapping and a pathetic attempt to give us something to "dance to" but I can't really see myself grooving to this anytime soon.

Actress Meagon Good was also at the event. As much as we adore Christina, Joss Stone certainly didn't take a liking to the beautiful Dip It Low singer. When Soul/R&B singer Joss Stone was interviewed in the latest issue of Giant magazine, she had harsh words to say about Christina:
While Stone had some harsh criticism for today’s crop of R&B singers, her most scathing words were saved specifically for singer-actress Christina Milian, who just so happens to be the ex-girlfriend of her ex-boyfriend, Beau Dozier. Stone describes most singers today as “just highly paid strippers.” When told she may have just insulted a large swath of singers, she cocked her head to the side, flashed an innocent smile and said, “What? It’s not like I’m not telling the truth.” When Christina Milian’s name came up in conversation, Stone, according to writer Aliya S. King, “doesn’t bother to hide her disdain for the woman who Dozier, now Stone’s ex-boyfriend, once dated.” Stone told King: "I could tell you some stories about her... ," then launched into a “profanity-laced tirade against the pop star.” King writes: “After I point to my tape recorder, reminding her that she's on record, Stone doesn't quit. Wow. Not even I have a bad word to say about Christina, and I usually get in everybody's ass. She seems to be one of the sweetest people in the industry. She has a very likable personaliy, she is beautiful, she is not stuck up at all. Hell, it is hard not to like someone like Christina. Joss should be really happy because her new album Introducing Joss Stone debuted at No. 2 this week on the Billboard 200 album chart. She just seems really bitter. In other Christina news, she occasionally posts messages on her official forum and she gave us a little insight on the recording of her new upcoming album. She has recorded a new joint with Latin singer/songwriter Frankie J called "That One", and it’s produced by newcomer Benjamin Franklin, who did another joint on the album called "Stay Cool". Rapper Rick Ross is also set to make an appearance on a track called "Blissville". Other producers that are expected on Milian's upcoming new set include The Matrix (Shakira, Britney Spears), Johnathan “J.R.” Rotem (Paris Hilton, Rihanna), Cool & Dre (Mary J. Of course it could be a very powerful push-up bra but you have to be working with something in the first place and Kelly has always had two backs.

You'd expect high drama.You'd expect an intrusive entourage. You'd expect loads of makeup. a wild cascading mane, and rock hard abs on display. But that's not what you'd find at Janet Jackson's subdued Malibu,Calif., Home on this dark and drizzly February morning.
It's a simple white clapboard affair that blends in seamlessly with this famous row of multi million-dollar cribs.The garage shelters two gleaming white luxury cars: a Ferrari and a Porsche. The "Caribbean colonial" - themed interior features whitewashed walls, pale-blue canvas furniture, sea-grass rugs, and seashell motifs throughout. Copies of Vibe,Elle,W, and Angeleno magazines are fanned out on the lichen-color, wooden coffee table. The vast windows open to a view that stretches 30 miles out, all the way to Catalina Island, and the Pacific ripples like satin in shades of slate and jade.
There's hardly time to contemplate the breathtaking vista before Janet enters the living room, looking more cool aunt than sex symbol. She's wearing the unlikeliest of outfits for an 11 a.m. kitchen-side chat at home: a backless,floor-length black evening gown with plainly visible bra-strap, a gray hoodie, and turquoise flip-flops. Her face is bare but for a feathery coat of mascara, and her hair is slicked back into a tiny bun. "Dunk" as her family likes to call her, is more petite and drowsy than you'd expect, but when she smiles, her trademark megawatt grin floods the room with charismatic power. JANET : I hope I don't sound like I'm poking my chest out. But...I'm a generous person. I've heard people say that I am.I love giving and helping people. I think I have a pretty good heart. Don't get me wrong; I have my moments.It's important to be surrounded by good- hearted people- no agenda, just good souls.
KIM : How do you tell the difference between someone with an agenda and someone with a good heart?
JANET : You can't fake it for long.
KIM: Have you suffered any health side effects from gaining and losing weight so quickly?
JANET : I'm very fortunate that i don't have any side effects. I think that's because i work out. I shouldn't speculate, but i think part of why Luther [Vandross] had a stroke was because there was so much weight, like 100 pounds, and he would fast. His system couldn't take it. People think they can skip working out if they can find other ways to lose weight, but you still have to be physically fit. Treat your muscles properly.
KIM : What do you eat for your diet that you really cant stand?
JANET : I sometimes get sick of egg whites. Eggs are funky.
KIM : What's your biggest beauty regret?
JANET : I look like the bride of Frankenstein in the opening of my [1996] "Control" video.My hair was this high [she holds her hand up a foot over her head]. Every time I see that, I get embarrassed and I bury my head in my hand.
KIM : Would you ever have more plastic surgery?
JANET : When i was 16, I got my nose done. Ask me [again] when I hit 55. I look at photographs of women who have had plastic surgery.They look pulled and yanked, and that's not that attractive to me.But like i said , all that might be out the door when I'm 55. Hopefully when I'm that age I'll look like my sister Rebbie [now 56] because she looks younger than I do.Her skin is flawless.
KIM : Which of your piercings hurt the most when you got it done?
JANET : I've had my septum pierced.My nipple pierced. I still have my navel pierced. I've had my "Down South" pierced.
KIM : Wait, the Clitoris or the Labia?
JANET : They say it's not good to pierce the Clitoris because if they don't know what they are doing, there's a numbness that you can experience. And you will never get that feeling back.So they'll pierce just the labia and you get the same sensation. We used to have piercing parties, and we'd all get something done.All my friends would come to the beach house.And Rob, the body piercer - we're still good friends- would pierce us all.Getting my [nasal] septum pierced sounded like putting a knife through leather, so that was the ugly part of it. You know how sometimes your eyes just tear.There's no pain, but your eyes water. Others, you inhale and you exhale and then it's done.But this one was probably the most difficult i would say, worse than the one down south.
KIM : You've mentioned several times in interviews that you're ready to marry Jermaine and have children.
JANET : I'd love to have a family,If marriage is something he wants to do, that's fine with me. But if he doesn't , that's fine with me , too, because I'm very happy with the way it is.
KIM : He's gotta read all these articles.What does he say? Have you set a date?
JANET : Doesn't that seem like a personal question?
KIM : not really you Belong to the public.
JANET : Even though you're in the public eye, you still have your own private life. Just as you work in an office, that doesn't mean your co-workers have a right to know what you do when you go home at the end of the day.I think that's something the media doesn't respect enough.But, there's been conversations, so we'll see. Look, I've [been married ]twice,and I haven't been successful at it. So I'm real happy to stay right where I am.But if it's something he wants to do, I'm okay with that.
KIM : How will the perils of fame affect how you raise your family?
JANET : If my kids want to be in the entertainment industry, I'd encourage them to wait until they were at least 18. I'd always let them know that anytime they want to give it up, it's totally fine, It's not for everyone. I'm not gonna really comment on Britney, but you sometimes wonder, was it too much, too soon? I don't know her. I don't want to assume anything. But who knows? I've been praying for her,because I'm really afraid somethings going to happen,and i hope it doesn't.
KIM : When i see your face, I see so much of Michael's old face.Do you ever miss his face? or do you feel sadness when you see how he's become?
JANET : I'll say this.Everyone sees that he is different.There's no question about that. He's my brother. I love him regardless.Regardless.
KIM : The rumors about your secret daughter just won't die.How did people confuse this alleged daughter with your niece?
JANET : When I was doing "Let's Wait Awhile" (1987). I used to take my niece with me.She also did a photo shoot with me with Kenny Rogers [ the country singer who is also a photographer] for one of his books. The photo wasn't in the book; he used another photo, but he gave me the photograph.People were saying i had a child back then, too, a little boy. But I'd take this niece around , and people would say that we looked alike, i wonder why! so they automatically assumed that she was my daughter.
KIM : Who is this niece?
JANET : I don't want to bring more drama to her. She called me and said, 'Auntie Janet, I hear what's going on.This is just stupid.Why is this going on?' And they don't even have the time right because she's a little too old for the time that they are saying. I was only 18 when i married James.We weren't together for very long.Honestly, I've never had any kids. My mother said, 'Baby, you should really start thinking about it because you're really getting a lot older now.' And i said, ' Mother, I know, but I've got stuff to do! it will happen.' she said, 'Okay, you never know.' I think I've still got time.
KIM : Have you ever tried to have kids?
JANET : NO
KIM : If you knew you had problems having a baby, how far would you go with fertility treatments? Adoption? In-Vitro fertilization?
JANET : I would adopt.
KIM : Would you try Artificial insemination?
JANET : And have a baby that way? And it would still be Jermaine's?
KIM : SURE.
JANET : Yes, as long as it's ours, i would definitely do that.
KIM : What kind of gifts do you buy Shaniah Cymone (Jermaine Dupri's 9- year-old daughter) for her birthdays and Christmas?
JANET : I've gotten her cute little things.I think there's still time for that. To me, it's about building a friendship with her.I never want her to think I'm trying to be her mother.She has a mother and a father.I'd prefer for us to be friends and for her to know that she always has someone to talk to. I probably shouldn't tell this story.We were down here at this children's store.He loves to shop for her.They had really cute shoes.He gets her this simple pink bikini with shorts and a little top to go over it. I said, "Those are going to turn into booty shorts on her.She's going to be on Myspace looking back." He looked at me! I said, "Baby, I'm joking.It's just a joke." He said, " See this why you can't have a girl." Eventually she's going to be into boys, so prepare for that. It's just life.
KIM : Would you like a boy or a girl?
JANET : I'm more partial to boys. I think it's from being such a tomboy growing up and hanging with my brothers.
KIM : Would you breast-feed?
JANET : I don't know! You've gotta ask me that question when that time comes.
KIM : What is Auntie Janet like?
JANET : This is a touchy subject for me, because whenever my nieces and nephews get into trouble with their parents , they come to me. I guess they consider me the cool aunt. Like, they come to me when they get tattoos though their parents tell them not to. I probably give then the worst advice; I say, "You'll probably get in trouble, but just remember your parents still love you.So it will be okay, it's not the end of the world." When i was a kid, I'd feel like it was the end of the world when i got in trouble. So I'm always giving them advice, but always ending it with, " Don't tell them i told you this." My brothers and sisters would probably be mad at me if they knew some of the things i told their kids, but I'm just being completely honest with them.
KIM: What advice would you give your 20 - year-old self?
JANET : Brace yourself it's gonna be an incredible ride.

I was impressed with every banner and there wasn't one design that I didn't like. The first one will go up TOMORROW for a week and then each week, the banner changes. So basically, each banner will be used. It could be MONTHS that you see the constant banner changes each week, but I wanted to do something interesting for a change. In fact I was so impressed with the quality of your work, I was thinking about using them throughout the whole year. Beyonce is gearing herself up to release her re-released album B'Day (3rd April 2007) and I will be BUYING. For the past couple of months in the car, I have been jamming to my downloaded edition.
I didn't think the album was good enough to buy. I felt that the album was rushed and poorly put together. The album isn't terrible but it wasn't that great either. VERY few decent joints here and there, a lot of fillers and three nice ballads. Well make that two if you don't include Listen (which was originally a hidden track). But I want to see the video's and I want to get my hands on the new songs so I think for Beyonce's hard work and her determination to give us more, I think she deserves my money this time and it will also pay off in the long run. On the 2nd April, Beyonce will be premiering a new video called Still In Love on Yahoo and if you go over to the Sony Music website, you can listen to new tracks Flaws and All, If and Welcome To Hollywood. Rihanna was spotted driving to Barbados airport this week as she prepared to go back to the United States. She was seen off by her mama and little brother. Obviously, they have different fathers because the little boy is dark skinned and Rihanna is mixed race (black mother, white father):
Rihanna now resides in the US and often goes back to her native Barbados as a holiday break to be with friends and family. She has returned to the US to finish recording her new album. Girl may not have much going vocally in the singing stakes but just like her idol Beyonce, the girl has a work ethic like no tomorrow. I really respect that girl. Honestly. I really do. Ambition lives in this girl and to me that's definitely a positive! I was in WH Smith bookstore the other day and saw Bring It On which she has a part in alongside Solange Knowles. The DVD was really cheap. To take away my shame of wanting my curiosity aroused, I may just say I am buying it for my youngest sister. We will see. *cringes*

Here's a "new" Amerie track called Gotta Work (or is it?) SOHH claims it's an exclusive but the track is not listed on her official track-listing for her upcoming new album Because I Love It. Secondly, it is CLEARLY a Rich Harrison production:
Rich has done NO work on the new album whatsoever. If anything it sounds like a rejected cut from her Touch album which was released back in 2005. It's just that the song is just leaking and we're finally hearing it after it's been sitting around for so long. This is definitely One Thing reincarnated. It's an okay track, very old-skool. She's singing about Gotta Work but chick clearly "gotta work" on those vocals because she sounds bad and not in a good way either.

I took the time out to review the album a couple of weeks ago. You can read my review here and I loved it. I gave the album a VERY positive review and it is sitting next to my herd of vibrators. So if you haven't picked up this beautiful album yet, you should!
Before I proceed with this post, I was thinking that it is time I had a banner change because this one has been up for quite a while. I had this banner because Alicia Keys is one of my favourite R&B artists and I wanted to represent. I designed the banner myself in photoshop and as many of you come to my site in the thousands I am looking for YOU guys to design my next banner. First off, the banner has to be the EXACT same size as the one above with a pink border so that it matches the colouring and styling of my blog. Secondly, ALL banners submitted will be used. So basically everybody will be a winner! And not only that, thousands of Toya's World visitors from all over the world will view your work! For example, each week I will be using a different banner that was submitted to me. Oh and the following artists that I would like to see in the banner are Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Amerie, Ashanti, Tamia, Rihanna, Ciara, you know, all of the female R&B artists who are doing it big right now. The interview is really sad. Her mom had her at 45 so when her mom was raising her she was really old. So she died old and broke when Lelee was just 22. Both of her parents are dead. Her daughters are 18 and 16 years old now. She had the first one when she was 15 and the second when she was 17 years old. She was also homeless, and when SWV split, their record company RCA only gave her $25,000 and that went towards her mother's funeral and burial. RCA only paid them 5 cents for each album sold, which is just sad because they sold millions of records for RCA. Their debut sold 6 million and their sophmore 4 million. I have those albums in my R&B HOTNESS list. Those albums were R&B CLASSICS. Their third album went platinum. She also has a degree in accounting now but back then things were pretty bad. READ it. 1. Brandy has been dumped by Simon Cowell as a judge on his hit talent US show America's Got Talent. It has been reported that Sharon Osbourne may be a possible replacement. Brandy is being dumped because due to getting involved in a fatal car crash a couple months ago, the R&B star may face vehicular manslaughter charges and a possible trial. Cowell is the executive producer of the NBC talent show and he is also a judge on his other hit show The UK's X-Factor in which Sharon Osbourne is also a judge. I think I'm going to call Simon the AXEMAN because he is ditching people left and right from all of his talent shows. Not only has he ditched Brandy but he has also dumped X-Factor judge Louis Walsh and their host Kate Thornton. Pop singers Jessica Simpson and Samantha Mumba have been possible contendars for Louis' replacement.
2. And as we're on Simon Cowell, American Idol has proven to be a piece of shit. Mad talented vocalist Stephanie Edwards was voted off "American Idol" on Wednesday, while weak singer Sanjaya Malakar were allowed to stay. Simon Cowell said on Tuesday's show that her rendition of Dusty Springfield's "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" lacked the edginess and youthful energy that she brought to her previous performances. THERE WILL NOT BE A BLACK AMERICAN IDOL THIS YEAR BECAUSE AS TALENTED AS THEY ARE THEY ARE GETTING PICKED OFF EACH WEEK!
3. Tameka "Tiny" Cottle has just suffered a miscarriage. Tiny, a former member of the R&B group Xscape, was six months pregnant and scheduled to give birth in June. The child's father was rap superstar T.I. Tiny and T.I. have one son together (named King) and have dated on and off for more than three years. But earlier this week, TI announced that the two had separated. The Xscape star is currently recovering in an Atlanta area hospital. This is really sad ... to lose a baby at SIX MONTHS .... Damn! My prayers go out to her.

Umbrella is going to be the brand new single taken from Rihanna's upcoming as-yet-titled album. The track is produced by Terius "The Dream" Nash and features Jay-Z. The song will be hitting the radio airwaves March 28th! In addition to Umbrella, Terius also produced another song for Rihanna titled "Breakin' Dishes". So it seems Rihanna will be coming a lot sooner than we expected.

Sterling Simms - Nasty Girl I see that the Michael Jackson channeling has become a persistent thing of late. This track, I can't front, is mad hot. The way he puts down the falsetto over a 70's disco-orientated beat is just sick. Another track that can easily have come off Michael's Off The Wall album. I am quite surprised because of all the 6 tracks that I've heard from Def Jam's newest sensation, this one is different. And I can not wait to see what else he brings to the table.
Mario Barrett - What's It Gonna Be/Kryptonight This is yet another leaked track from Mario's upcoming new album "Go!". The track is pretty. Vocals are tight. Nice beat. Don't have a negative word to say. In fact, I have been totally feeling ALL of the tracks that have leaked so far and this one is no exception. Another hot jam from the upcoming album goes by the name of Kryptonight and it's quite a banger. It features new rapper Rich Boy and it was produced by Bryan Michael Cox, one of my favourite R&B producers as of late. Hot track. Loves it! The constant album pushbacks are a bit annoying but once the album does finally get released I am pretty sure the wait will be well worthwhile.
Fantasia Barrino - Said I Wouldn't (No More) This is an unreleased track from Fantasia and I'm really digging this. Production-wise I think it's a tight track. It doesn't showcase much of her range though but it's a pretty full-on R&B track and I would rather this was on the album then the totally ghetto-fied "Hood Boy". But her new album is pretty diversified so I'm certain this track could have found a place somewhere. Bobby Valentino - Backside This is a sexual slow jam about getting a girl on her backside *lol* It's an okay track but his song concepts are becoming a little too repetitive now. Basically, his whole album "Special Occasion" has more or less leaked now. His current single Anonymous (featuring Timbaland) has come in as the #1 Most-Added record in its impact week at Urban radio. "Anonymous" sets the stage for the May 8th arrival in-stores of Bobby's long-awaited second album, Special Occasion. Bobby has co-written more than three-fourths of the new album, which also boasts songwriting and production credits from award winning hit makers such as Timbaland, Sean Garrett, Tim & Bob, Rodney Jerkins, Delite, Bryan Michael Cox, and Dre & Vidal.

Yesterday, a piece of footage of Dallas Austin calling Joss Stone a whore emerged on You Tube and let's just say Dallas put that ass on blast claiming her to be a whore who will sleep with every producer she works with. Joss is currently dating her current producer Raphael Saadiq who produced most of her new album Introducing Joss Stone. He also put Christina Aguilera on blast because at one time they were briefly seeing each other. There were even pictures of the two at a games match a couple of years ago during her "Stripped" era. I hear he was supposed to do some tracks for her second album Stripped, which were cut after their sexual relations went sour. And he claims Joss fucks her producers just to get hits. Seems like Dallas is mad because he's not messin' with Joss anymore. And didn't he produce tracks for TLC before he hooked up with TLC lead singer Chilli? So that could also mean Chilli was fuckin' for tracks too. The footage has since been removed from You Tube but Dallas was a very bitter dude at that.

More than 72,000 people packed Reliant Stadium to see hometown superstar Beyonce perform at Rodeo Houston. Rodeo officials said it was the fifth largest crowd in the event's history. The energy filled concert kicked off with her signature hit "Crazy in Love". It was Beyonce's second solo performance at the rodeo having previously performed with Destiny's Child. Then she attended her mama's House Of Demoronic store where she participated in a media conference:
Cute cute cute. But Rachel Hunter, Rod Stewart's ex found NOTHING cute about Beyonce for "ruining the dreams of aspiring models". She fumes: "For years now we have seen people on the covers of magazines that aren't models, they are actresses and it's disappointing. Sports Illustrated this year had Beyonce Knowles on the cover. What's left for young girls to aspire to if they want to be models? Not much!" Damn. Is it that serious? Hell no. And at least Beyonce is representing the curvies putting an end to the theory that stick-thin models are the only ones who can do this type of work. R&B Crumbs: Jennifer Hudson to play Aretha Franklin? (my thoughts)
A musical production, based on the life of the soul singer Aretha Franklin is already in the works with auditions set to happen this May in Detroit. Last night, however, Aretha revealed to Access Hollywood that she has already been approached by several studios who want to take her autobiography and put it on the big screen. Aretha confirmed Jennifer Hudson was one name suggested for her role. If we're talking raw talent, I think Jennifer would be perfect for the role because obviously the movie will showcase a barrage of performances as to when Aretha was starting to get huge. And it would mean they wouldn't need to find an actress to mime Aretha's music because Jennifer will SANG the hell out of an Aretha track. However, one objective. She will need to eat 10 burgers a day to look the part. It shouldn't be a hard task now that Burger King has given her a free-burgers-for-life membership. Not being mean. I'm just saying, because Aretha makes Jennifer look like Naomi Campbell. Other than that, give the role to Jennifer!

Beyonce's younger sister SOLANGE KNOWLES has slammed reports she has started dating rapper LIL' WAYNE following the alleged collapse of her marriage. Recent internet rumours claimed the singer/actress, 20, had ended her three-year marriage to American football player DANIEL SMITH, father of her two-and-a-half year-old son DANIEL JULEZ. When discussing her Valentine's Day last month (14FEB07), Solange fuelled rumours she had split from Smith by declaring, "I'll be with my son. He's my valentine this year." Interestingly enough, Samsung and Beyonce will participate in a string of TV commercials, advertisements, global concert tours, and other co-promotional activities. Samsung's Ultra Music TV commercial, starring Beyonce will kick off the campaign globally in April. In addition to Beyonce hooking up with Samsung, Ultra Music mobile users will have exclusive access to Beyonce's latest hit "Irreplaceable" which comes embedded in their mobile phones.
So now Beyonce follows Rihanna's lead. If they were smart, they'd have offered us a non-heard Beyonce track or one of those exclusive new video's that Beyonce did for her re-released album B'Day. It doesn't exactly make mobile users want to replace their phones anytime soon. Methinks I will stick to my current Siemens right about now until further notice. Hell, I'm not too fussy. According to the NY Post the Oscar winner was set to perform at the "Soul Train Awards" show in Los Angeles but wanted to flake in the last minute. "Jennifer called Friday and said she couldn't make it," said a source. At that time, "Soul Train" producer Don Cornelius called "the man" Clive Davis, next thing you know it she was there. "Clive called Jennifer and read her the riot act. He said, 'Get your ass out to L.A.' and then hung up on her." The threatening call from Davis worked because "she showed up." The night wasn't so bad because Hudson was presented the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for Entertainer of the Year.

Clive Davis - Whitney's longtime mentor/label boss- has already decided on about seven songs for Houston, including those by R. Kelly, Diane Warren and other big-name producers.

R&B singers Monica and Fantasia both worked with Missy recently and ended up recording the same track. I guess niether of them thought the track was good enough to make their new albums which dropped last year. T-Boz looked absolutely amazing. She's been rocking the same hairstyle since 92' but I aint mad at her. Beyonce and her fella Jay-Z went out to dinner in New York this weekend. They dined with the likes of Gwenyth Paltrow, Chris Martin and the rest of their Coldplay clan. Then later on in the day, Beyonce was spotted again in New York wearing a bright yellow canary-coloured jacket and white pants.
Hate to say it folks but the ugly lace-front wig strikes again. I can't understand how somebody with so much money can walk around with a wig that looks so tacky. OK. So some days, you can't be assed to do your hair, but hell, slap on some grease, slick it back and throw it into a quick ponytail, wear a hat or do a Britney Spears and shave that shit the hell off. Just don't throw on that lace-front wig. And oh-ho it seems her Dreamgirls co-star Jennifer Hudson has been lingering around Beyonce a little too much because she attended the Soul Train Awards rocking one too.
Apart from the wig though, she did look nice. I got to pay a compliment somehow, before I get myself ambushed by some of these crazy-ass Beyonce stans. You can be a fan and STILL KEEP IT REAL and that's what some of them don't seem to realise. If my sisters hair don't look good, I am not going to keep my mouth shut and make her go out looking a fool. I am going to tell her "your head looks a mess". Doesn't mean I hate her. I am just being real.
The Z-Listed ceremony called the 21st Annual Soul Train Music Awards took place yesterday at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. I am quite shocked that Jennifer Hudson even turned up at this show considering that she's an A-Lister now:
She looked a hot raggedly mess to me. And she could have at least wore something much better. Her style just gets worse and worse. And the lace-front wig is killing me. It's a shame she got herself caught up in the Beyonce/Tyra Banks/Brandy craze because I always use to say her weave jobs were on point but not today - no effort whatsoever. But if she'd arrive at an event as prestigious as the Oscars and look like dogs dinner then in a way, I should have expected her not to look any better at a ceremony that nobody really cares about. The girl has collected TWENTY-FOUR awards since her Dreamgirls glory so mad props to her on that, but she just needs better styling. Still, I'd have loved to have been in her shoes getting close and personal with the drop-dead gorgeous Shemar Moore.

Letoya looked really pretty but she seems to have been rocking the same weave throughout her whole career. It would have been nice to see her rocking a different look for a change.

This weeks American Idol proved to be a right scam as far as voting is concerned. Last time I checked, this was supposed to be a SINGING competition but the results show on Thursday only demonstrated that contestants get by on POPULARITY and not on their SINGING TALENT. It seems that if the viewers like you, they will vote for you no matter what, even if that contestant put on a poor performance.
This is very evident as three very talented singers were knocked out of the competition whilst the viewers took it upon themselves to keep in the least talented singer in the competition. Is this a tragedy? It sho is. Proceed with the post to read more of my take on America's biggest show in TV history.
SABRINA
I am shocked. TOTALLY shocked. I thought she blew the house down with that En Vogue song "Don't Let Go". It may NOT have been her best performance but she totally ruled that stage and was VERY deserving to be in the top 12. What has Idol come to? How can they let such talent slip away like this? If I were a record executive, I would give this chick a record deal straight away.

I'm not blinded by looks. I know he wasn't the best singer in the competition but he sure did deserve that top 12 position more than Sanjaya. I don't know why he didn't get the votes. My mama was like, he was really cocky, too sure of himself, etc. I guess the audience can see conceitedness a mile off and decided not to vote for him this time. I'm sad because I had a soft spot for him. He is mad cute and had talent but I guess it wasn't enough to see him through.
SUNDANCE
OK. So he may have had zero appeal, may not have aroused a chick or set a woman's juices flowing but you can't deny talent. The guy could sing like nobody's business and he got cut. The judges were absolutely gobsmacked and had every right to be.
ANTONELLA: THE RIGHT CHOICE TO LEAVE!!!
So toilet-girl finally got her marching orders this week. It was only right that she left considering that Frenchie Davis had to go after posing topless on the internet. Antonella should have walked a long time ago. I understand that the blow-job pictures were not her fault and that she she put all of her trust in a previous boyfriend to keep those pictures under the lid. But the fact that she LIED about them at first and said it was a look-a-like should have gotten her the boot a long time ago, not to mention that each week, she sounded horrible.
SANJAYA: THE WRONG CHOICE TO STAY!!!
The weakest singer in the competition makes the top 12 which is shocking. He is a sweet guy with a likable personality which is what is getting him the votes but this is a singing competition and he should not have been put before the more talented singers who ended up getting voted out. LAKISHA
She blew the house down with that Whitney number and was VERY deserving of that top 12 position. Simon said she looked "beautiful" and I will definetely agree that she upgraded herself, the hair was nice, the dress suited her, what more is there to say? The chick rocked.
MELINDA
Talented singer but she looks like somebody's mama not to mention that she gives real contorted facial expressions every time she smiles. Won't print what my mama said because it just wasn't nice and guiltily enough, I agreed. Her wig looks a right mess. She needs to be put together a bit better but as talented as she is I hope she goes far.
STEPHANIE
She is fast becoming one of my favourites. I was rooting for Sabrina originally but now that she's gone, I'll be rooting for Stephanie in the coming weeks. This week wasn't her best performance though but the chick clearly stood out.
JORDAN
I wasn't feeling her song choice this week but the important aspect of American Idol is that you have to show a different side each week and if you can't do that then you're doomed. For just 17, this chick has a set of pipes on her.
BRANDON
Great singer clearly but his performance was so-so this week. Now that he has made it to the bigger rounds, he will need to step his game up because those white boys are ontop of their game.
CHRIS
I think this guy is the underdog and one that we should watch out for. I think he will make the finals because his voice can suit ANY type of music - R&B, Soul, blues, pop, country, anything. I actually like this guy and always look forwards to his performances. CONTINUE READING THIS POST ....
Here is a never-before-heard Letoya Luckett track. This was a left over uptempo track from her debut album "Letoya". It's produced by Mike City and it did exactly that - nothing for me. It's easily to see why the track didn't make the final album cut. It sounds like a rejected Brandy cut to me which is no coincidence considering that Mike City has worked with Brandy in the past. R&B songstress Ciara attended the Victoria's Secret PINK Rally at the Raleigh Spring Break Event.Kristin Cavallari, Nick Cannon, Haylie Duff and JoJo hosted poolside activities at the spring break bash in Florida. South Beach's landmark Raleigh Hotel was transformed into the definitive spring break destination, complete with a PINK-ified dunking booth, smoothie bar, pop-up shop and nonstop DJ entertainment.
Ciara looked the part by sporting a bikini underneath her white pants. She looked really nice. Love the weave.

Overall, it looked like another "RUN THE RIPWAY" event to me, but at least it brought out some of the hottest performances.

Three hundred MJ fanatics shelled out ¥400,000 (roughly $3,400 US) for the chance to meet Michael in Tokyo, getting only a minute each with the retired pop star. Another track from Lumidee's upcoming sophomore album Unexpected goes by the name of I'm Up and it features rapper Jim Jones. Upon hearing this track it can easily qualify as an Ashanti song. Basically, it is just one of your typical R&B club bangers that you can get crunk to where ever you're at. It's quite a catchy number though. Urban radio will eat this up, just like her current single She's Like The Wind, except that track is much better.

Mariah Carey turned some heads in Nashville while filming scenes for the upcoming movie "Tennessee." The R&B diva is playing an aspiring country signer who flees her controlling husband in New Mexico by moving to Nashville with two brothers. Last week, she sang at the downtown honky-tonk Second Fiddle. She co-wrote "Right To Dream" with Willie Nelson and performed it with Nelson's harmonica player, Mickey Raphael."People were weeping on the crew when she sang it," director Aaron Woodley told The Tennessean. "It's very moving, especially in the context of the film and her character."
Earlier, they shot on location in Dunlap, about 20 miles north of Chattanooga, and at Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville. Later they filmed some train scenes on trips between Nashville and Lebanon. "There I am, sitting on the edge of a boxcar with Mariah Carey, breezing through town," Woodley said. "We slowed down to go over a bridge, and there were people sitting in cars. I think they did a double-take: 'I swear I just saw Mariah Carey on a boxcar.'"[SOURCE]
