MARIO: GO! [ALBUM REVIEW]....

After numerous delays, Mario's third studio album "Go!" has leaked. The bad news? The album will be released on November 27th. That is such a long way to go to say that the retail is now out. This is set to hurt him even more, but the place of blame is very evident. That is not a good sign and I don't want this album to go to the pits of doom because Go! is a very solid R&B album. The standard is absolutely top notch, even though half the tracks leaked eons ago. The album was originally set to be released on November 26, 2006 and due to bad promotion and the poor response pertaining to certain singles, this could be the album's downfall. The set sees a line of some of R&B's hottest producers team up to put their solid efforts into the CD ranging from Stargate, Polow Da Don, Krucial Keys, Ne-yo and Akon to the likes of Timbaland and Pharrell Williams.

But let's not even allow this impressive line-up to take away from the fact that much of the album's consistency is all down to his strong and masterful vocal delivery setting him well and truly apart from his auto-tuned peers and putting him in a completely different league of his own. The talent is in those vocals. In fact, he is one of our most young and talented male vocalists to hit the scene today. The first single, the Stargate produced "How Do I Breathe" paled in comparison to previous hit single "Let Me Love You" and failed to offer a colourful angle. It was just, well, boring and bland. The Polow Da Don produced "Crying Out For Me" which got a video recently was a lot more productive. The midtempo number sees Mario conforming to the knight in shining armour role where he does everything he can to save his girl from a yearning heart. Again, the song highlights Mario's vastly improved vocals. Other stand-outs include Music For Love, Why, What Is It Gonna Be, Lay In My Bed, Right And A Wrong Way, Do Right .... hell, this album is on point. Too bad they left it too late for it to have any type of real impact.
